Saw a very confident public nurser today! (X post hawaii)

Okay... today my DD's preschool had a field trip to the Marine Corp Base very near our school. One of the dads, who just got back from a year in Iraq, wanted to show the kids around the helicopter he pilots. I was an official chaperone, among numerous others. After hanging out in the hanger for a while we went to a lovely new on-base playground to eat lunch and play.

When we arrived at the playground we headed to the lovely shady gazebo... 30 preschool kids and 7 or 8 adults. There were three young moms sitting there visiting when we swept in. One was nursing a babe that was maybe 3 months old. She looked startled for a moment... I think she had just latched on... and then simply returned to chatting with her friend. After getting all the kids settled I ended up sitting next to her on the bench. I briefly got her attention to ask if she minded me moving her car seat so I could sit. I complimented her on the sling in the car seat. She didn't seem to want to chat so I didn't engage her.... she just wanted to chat with her friends.

I was just so happy to see a mom nurse her baby to sleep and then hold her on her shoulder for about 40 minutes, with no self consciousness at all.

Cool! I myself saw a woman carefully nursing at the zoo a couple of weeks ago. I wanted so bad to compliment her, but I was worried that I'd make her nervous. I guess next time I should just gather my courage and go for it!

I remember my first comment on my NIP was from an older woman, probably around 60 who looked at me with a smile and said "I remember those days... the best days of my life". She was so sweet. It made my day

I remember when i was pregnant with my first and my dh and i were sitting in the doctors waiting room. There were two ladies sitting in the corner and one of them had a small nb. All of a sudden she took out her breast and started feeding her nb right there. I mean the whole breast was out and covering her babys head :LOL At first we were kind of shocked but we both thought it was cool she was just feeding her baby and didn't care what other people thought

I saw a Mama nursing her toddler at the beach on Mother's Day. She exuded confidence, it was so beautiful that I had to smile at her. I love getting that knowing smile in return.

I just got back from a Caribbean cruise and saw and met a mom nursing her 3 year old. She has 5 other children 1 of which was adopted and nursed them all.

i also saw a mom and a toddler of about 2 who very grumpy and tired and was crying and swatting at her mom. I was thinking to bad that mom isn't breastfeeding so she could calm her and then all of suddan...she swooped her up and put her to the breast. This was by the pool and all she had on was a bikini top. Yeah!
