We are thinking of creating a playroom in the attic. What would you want in a playroom? I have a 3 & 5 yo DDs & 8 yo DS. What would your ideas be for your dream "imagination attic"?

I want a wood kitchen set.
Wood food & tableware
Area for play house/fort
Sky lights
Chalkboard wall
Cubbies/selves on a side wall for books & toys
Bench seats with cupboards under them
Place for ds to do legos
Huge fleece floor pillows
Playmat for karate practice

I'd want an easel for painting/drawing.

We had old school desks as kids and just loved them.

mmm... lots of art supplies, a clothesline type thingy to hang wet pictures, wooden table, lots of cubbies to keep stuff in, a tv/ dvd are if your kids and you are into it, a bean bag or comfy seating /big pillows on floor for reading, maybe a hammok somehow? Fun whimsical colors on the walls and furniture, playsilks, a wooden playhouse/treehouse ensemble with animals and fairies, books galore, maybe trains and cars too, a kitchen/housekeeping area,...

hmm.. can't think of anything else for now!

Sounds cool- I would have loved such a room when i was little!

Pegs to hang dress-up clothes on, a phone so you don't have to run downstairs when you hear it ring. Felt board on the wall.

Area for play house/fort
That is a MUST though, my sister and I LIVED in homemade forts when we were little, it was the best!

I like the idea of little *areas* ...like an art station, a fort area, a table and chairs to sit and do crafts or have snacks or play games or whatever...a dress up area....

I am an *area* person :LOL

Magnet wall, they sell magnetic paint. You can buy stips of magnet with a blank white side. Make your own word or letter puzzlesTotally cool. Maybe a daybed/loft/couch/fouton for reading?

I doubt I will go up much, lol. Too hard on me, since it will probably be a ladder style instead of stairs. It can be thier parent free zone, lol.

Look what I found: http://jas.family.go.com/sendpage?pa...age&dest=print
Totally cute, inexpensive kitchenette idea.

It says 2 with open sheves, but one with a door would make a nice "fridge"

If you hang in at the right height and in the right place the clothesline works as a puppet theater and a pretend doll clothes clothesline, too.

We did this in our walk-up attic and what a difference it made! We love it! How about a nice dollhouse? Train set? Area for puzzles and games?

That doorway puppet theater is so cute! I love the idea!

When I was little my grandmother had a play area in her attic for us. It smelled musty and was hot as the dickens (Texas summer heat and only a fan to cool us down) but we *loved* having that private kids-only area to ourselves. I was around 7 when she first made it accessible to us, and it ROCKED! This WITHOUT the fun centers. I think you are setting your kids up for a ton of fond memories. Good luck, momma!

We should be able to do air in it. We will insulate the whole thing too.

My third grade teacher had an awesome setup in her classroom. She had an old, porcelain(i beleive)footed bathtub and put a bunch of crazy mismatched pillows in it. We usedto take turns sitting in there reading books. And she had one of those giant snake stuffed animals too. They have those at IKEA
I really want to do this one day if I can find an old bathtub

I think you should paint the walls a neat color/s. Maybe a dragonfly hanging from the ceiling?

Sounds cool, but not excited about getting a tub up there, lol. It will probably only be accessable by ladder type thing, not steps. I can probably think of some other big conttainer that is lighter...
