What is it with men bringing home puppies?

Grrrr!!! We have a new Lab puppy. Dh insists he'll take care of him and I won't have to do anything. Riiight. I find that hard to believe. Especially since he's out working and I'm here with this puppy...less than an hour after he 'arrived'. :


I so did not want a puppy. He is adorable though. I'm soooo ticked right now though. I seriously want to cry. Like I need one more thing to take care of. :

Yea, been there done that. My dh now considers it his personal mission to inform people what a bad idea it is to buy a pet as a gift or surprise.

I hope it works out for you, but decide quickly if you can handle it or not. By the time I realized that we really shouldn't have a dog, it was too late. We loved her already. It's worked out fine, but it was rough the first year or so. She's really a great dog and would be a lot better if dh had realized what he was getting into when he got her.

These are, no doubt, the same men who would be very upset (and understandably so) if their wives decided unilaterally to get pregnant again, no?

i hope it works out for you. DH got Tyson as my Valentine's Day surpirse.... i love him but would have loved to wait before getting another dog...especially a puppy. But for us it's working out.... I hope it works out for you too.

Yeah, we have encountered this situation in the past and it did not go well at all! I knew it was a bad idea from the get-go, but *someone* didn't want to listen. Then we took on two more dogs as a charity type case and sadly they both died within 2 yrs. so now we are a dog-free home. Which is odd because we really do need a dog where we live, but I hesitate to take on the responsibility again. Fortunately dh has figured this out too!
