I'm so tempted to enter and put offering the breast as a fuss free tip!

I tried to reply, but my baby is too old.

I was going to write:

My best baby calming tip is to nurse your baby on demand and give them as much in-arms time as possible. Wearing them in a sling helps with all of this. If bottle feeding, always hold the baby while doing it, don't prop the bottle.

I'm just giggling to myself because I just realized that in internet lingo this formula is called "In search of Mother in Law". :LOL

In the fine print...

Isomil Advance will also help provide child care while mom is away on the three–day trip
Note the wording "while mom is AWAY" (where the heck is the puking smile?)

Here you go: :Puke

Three gourmet meals daily and all non-alcoholic beverages
Why is it important that the winner be provided with non-alcoholic drinks, specifically? The baby's not going to be there, and even if it was, they assume that you're not breastfeeding it.

Let's puke together!! :Puke :Puke :Puke :Puke :Puke :Puke

Hey-- all those months when I was TTC, growing my baby, planning for his birth, choosing a name, making his first blanket, dreaming of being a mommy and holding my little angel in my arms, what I was really looking forward to was the day when I could leave him with a can of powder and a nanny while I went for a spa weekend!

Hmmm, maybe they think that a woman who would happily run off for three days without her infant (the rules say babe must be under 12 months) and who would not be breastfeeding may not show the best judgement. The woman who wins could start knocking them back and cost them a fourtune in bar tab?

okay now I'm just being mean and judgemental

Wow, I didn't see that I was trying to figure out if the meant child care at the spa or not. I can't believe they are promoting detattachment. DO they just help find the care or do they pay for that too?

from the contest rules, and aprox. prize value section...

Quote:
$150 spending money for winner plus an additional $300 to be used towards child–care services for winner's child/children in her absence during the Grand Prize trip

It is a getaway for 2 so I guess it doesn't include baby UGH : Not only that, what is the connection? "Got a fussy baby? Oh then take a getaway without it!" I think it is all very sad but I am sure some people (not here at MDC) think it is wonderful

Not to be left out, Nestle has their own (very similar contest) going. http://www.verybestbaby.com/promo/gss_contest/index.asp

Quote:
Explain how you and your baby got off to a good start and/or tell us your best advice for other new moms on topics that may include:

Pregnancy
Baby care
Infant feeding
Nestlé knows that moms get the best advice from other great moms like you! Share with us what you already share with your friends. Then, we'll share your winning stories with other moms at verybestbaby.com.
Anyone care to go share your story about how you and your baby got off to a good start?

I particularly loved this part of the contest rules:
Quote:
At the judges' discretion, entries including unsuitable content or that are in violation of third party rights (including, but not limited to, copyrights) will be immediately disqualified.
Something tells me that a mom who got her baby off to a good start by exclusively breastfeeding will *not* be the winner.

Sadly, I think you are very right. Thankfully though, the tide seems to be turning ever so slightly and I am seeing more and more mother's taking their babies with them on vacation and am receiving fewer calls from mothers wanting to know how much milk to pump and leave for their baby while they go away for the weekend without them.

Entry

This is what I entered in the Nestle contest that asked how you got off to a good start with your baby:

I got off to a good start with my baby by exclusively breastfeeding her. I know that breastmilk is the best possible thing that I can give to my baby. Breastfeeding not only provides my daughter with the perfect food, but it also provides her comfort and builds an unbreakable bond between us. I also keep my baby with me as much as possible. I often wear her in a sling, I feed her on cue, and I respond quickly to her cries. I know that by doing all of this I will have a healthy child who is confident that her needs will be met. She will grow to be a secure, empathic, independent child.

This whole thing is just sick.

From the Infamil contest:

What, we're not allowed to tell the truth?

It only costs $300 to leave your infant for three days?! I would be very suspicious of the quality of that care...

And :LOL at the "no profanities" rule. Have they gotten a lot of "F you, formula-pushers" in the past?

Well, I think it's sad that yet again at MDC, there is another post with a bunch of judgemental, catty comments. For a board full of women who go against the mainstream and want everyone else to open thier minds, you sure can be pretty closeminded. I would not leave my baby to go on vacation, hell-I can't even leave them overnight for some sleep but to say that a mom that chooses to take a kid-free vacation would just be boozin it up because she doesn't give a crap about her kids. What a stretch.
So, I guess you are all open inded as long as everyone agrees with you!

You mean like "Infants should have their mothers around to take care of them every night?"
