Help! I've Tried Every Seasonal Allergy Remedy!

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that some wise wymyn (or men) out there can help me. I live in Atlanta, home to awful pollen counts, and I'm suffering from really terrible seasonal allergies. It's gone on for 2 months now at least - constantly stuffed nose (it almost feels swollen shut from the inside), clear nasal drainage, violent sneezing fits, and a vacillating between clear, non-stinging draining eyes and itchy, red, burning eyes. At times there is also itching of my upper palate. I've tried OTC meds (tylenol sinus and the like), Zyrtec and Allegra. I've tried the BioAllers tree pollen stuff, and kali mur. cell salt. That helps a tiny bit with the stuffiness, but nothing else. I am interested in homeopathy but I am not too familiar with it. Help! I'm tired of feeling so awful!

My husband has seasonal allergies (Southeast PA) and I read in a post that eating local honey can help, from local bees because you are ingesting the actual pollens that are the cause of your allergies, I think it is the same idea as a allergy shot where you are injected with the allergen.

I am actively searching for that honey!!! But I am sure it will take a few weeks to start to work (once I find it!).

Good luck!

I was about to post this very thing!!!

Yesterday I had taken Claritin, Singulair AND 2 Bendryl, and I was still sneezing like my head was going to pop off! I'm really at my wit's end.

I thought about eating some bee pollen because I'm from a different coast from where I live now and I'm still not used to the pollen here. But you're right, the pollen would need to be local. Of course I'm vegan, so I don't want to eat pollen of something else would work...

Possible Relief

We've had a run here with seasonal allergies as well -- two bouts that turned into sinus infections. We've had some luck with homeopathic tinctures (NatraBio children's Allergy) and a HEPA filter, but what's also helping DS is really frequent hand and face washing (silly and simple, I know), and twice daily sprays with a saline nose spray. We like Simply Saline -- they make an infants' version although the adult version is okay. The nozzle is just bigger. DS was not a fan at first but after a few applications to mommy, his giraffe, panda bear, etc., he became more willing. Now, he'll even put his head down on his mattress and let me spray one side, then he'll turn his head, and I can spray the other. I can't help but wonder if he knows the spray helps him feel better. Head to the side method seems more effective than sitting up. Similisan allergy eye drops have also been great. I find Xlear nose spray extremely helpful but it was really hard to use with DS.

Hope this helps you and any little ones with allergies.

zyrtec & allegra worked for me, but did take a while to kick in fully. Benedryl works but makes me sleepy....what about zantac? Its a histamine-2 blocker and can help with allergies (I was on this along with the allegra)

Otherwise, wet cloths on your eyes, saline nose spray, maybe breathing in some steam (to open up your nose) would help?
hope you feel better!

A natural alternative to Zyrtec is a supplement called STEROL 117 by Biogenesis/Celt Naturals.
One bottle has 60 Veggie Caps for $60. I purchased them from my ND. She states that she has all her patients that were on Zyrtec or the like off them completely and on Sterol 117 only.
One cap a day for my ds....4-6 days of using them and you feel and see the difference.

i searched online for them and can't find them for under $70.
If you see a ND, I would give them a call and see if they have it. It is worth every penny.

HTH!!!!!
