Looking for a Pumkin Pie Recipe?

Combined, my family is vegan. Some don't eat eggs, other's can't tolerate soy, most can't tolerate dairy either. But we love pumpkin pie! Does anyone have any pumking pie type recipes that do not contain either eggs, dairy, or soy? Some have gluten issues too, but I can modify a crust myself.

Thanks! I am having no luck at all.

bummer - I was all ready to give you my really good recipe - but it has both eggs and heavy cream....so won't really help you out. I will think on how it might be modified though.

perhaps two pies?

I can make really good pies either with eggs and cream or with tofu, but I can't think of how to make it without either! Maybe you could make two pies to accomidate all the different food needs. Otherwise, is there some equivalent of tofu made with rice? I don't know, but it might be worth looking into.

My brother was wondering how the quest was going. He said that his fiance was working on a pumpkin pie with tofu in it. Then he told her to forget it once he realized tofu was a soy product. :LOL

Honestly? I feel like its the search for the Holy Grail ala Monty Python. Thanks for your help.

i found something on allrecipes.com that looks like i tmight work for you if you subbed rice milk for soy milk in the ingredients. it's called Pumpkin Tart With Pecan Crust. here's the ingredient list -- see if you think it looks worth while:

3/4 cup pecan halves
3/4 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 tablespoons real maple syrup

1 cup soy milk
1/4 cup arrowroot powder
1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin puree
1/2 cup real maple syrup
1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves

here's the link to the directions:

if you try it let us know how it turns out.

That looks perfect! Thanks for the recipe. Now I want to make it immediately!

it does look good, doesn't it? i want to make it, too, but my husband doesn't like punkin pie and i don't think dd would go for it either, so i'd have to eat the whole thing myself i guess!

bad news on this recipe!

unless i'm a tart (which is entirely possible), this recipe totally flunked. i followed the directions and now have a beautiful smelling and beautiful looking, raw pumpkin pie. the pumpkin center is not cooking--its like i poured pumpkin straight from the can into the center of the crust.

i'm so bummed! i hate the way the tofu pumpkin pies taste, too tofuey.

just wanted to pass this along!

I have the best, sure fire, vegan pumpkin pie recipe. It's fast and easy.

1 can 15oz. pureed pumpkin
3/4 cup sugar, or fructose
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1 package (10-12oz) soft tofu, processed in a blender until smooth.
1 9-inch unbaked pie shell

1. Preheat oven to 425.
2. Cream the pumpkin and the sugar.
3. Add salt, spices, and tofu. Mix thoroughly.
4. Pour mixture into pie shell and bake for 15 minutes.
5. Lower heat to 350 and bake for another 40 minutes.

I know there is tofu in here, but it's not at all noticeable. Believe me, my family wouldn't eat it if they knew how much tofu was in there. You have to get soft tofu!

I guarantee they'll like this one or your money back.

I just wanted to let you know that I made this recipe Christmas Day and everyone LOVED it. I could eat it all day. I wanted to use squash instead but I couldn't find any good fresh squash.
