There's hope for Baby Story afterall!!!

I was SO in love w/ yesterday's episode!!! The mom was a UBB/NFB rep and did a little show for some friends (didn't see any cloth diapers though). And she had a great, natural, low intervention birth!!! I was so excited b/c I'd basically given up on the show after seeing so many bad ones. She had CNMs in the hosp., tried the tub, listened to her body, SAT UP and used a birthing stool to push!!! That was the most amazing part b/c you never see that, even w/ home births on tv. No rush to cut cord and separate baby...I could've just cried... haha!

Anyway, just had to share!!! I was in such shock yesterday I couldn't take my eyes off the tv.

Maybe there is hope after all!

I have some episodes of Baby Story on tape from several years ago. One is a homebirth in a hot tub and another is a birth center rocking chair birth. They are my kids' favorites! My kids, from watching A Baby Story with me, know everything NOT to do while in labor/birthing and all the *wrong* statements that OBs and nurses say because I usually talk to the tv (ok....rant to the tv) while watching the "usual" Baby Story episodes.

We don't have cable, but my parents are on vacation next week, so I'll hopefully be able to tape some episodes to add to my collection. Maybe they'll show a decent one!

I just remembered that she used hypbirth tapes and a doula too!

I saw one about a woman who had a Bradley birth--no interventions!

Yay!

All the other ones I've seen make me sad, though.

That's the only reason I watch that show is sometimes I actually get to see a episode like that. I keep hoping I'll see a waterbirth, homebirth, or even a hospital birth that doesn't force interventions on moms. Every once and a while I'm rewarded for my patience.

ARGGGHHH!!!! I read that she was going to be on there "sometime in the winter/spring" I watched "Baby Story" every day for months. I haven't watched in two weeks because I figured it just wasn'tgoing to air and now it does!! How frustrating

I would have liked to have seen that one. Thanks for sharing. Maybe now I'll try tuning in again - I had given up on them.

I watched that episode the other day too. (the only one I've watched this whole pregnancy! I was peeved though when the preview for the next segment after a commercial break showed her gasping "I need drugs, I need drugs!!". It seemed so unnecessary, given that it wasn't reflective of the birth at all.

Ya know I've seen several water births on A Baby Story........not recently thought, but I have seen them. It seems like they'll play a bunch of episodes with c-sections.......and then they'll have a couple of natural births.
