I don't get it. Why wouldn't PETA be making a huge stink about vaccines?

ITA

I have been appalled at this hypocrisy for years, especially because I attended a private Catholic School in the 1960s and I was fully aware of the fetal tissue used in some vaccines as early as 1961, at a time when abortions were basically illegal in most states; I was in Catholic School in CA in 1968 when Ronald Reagan, then governor, signed the most liberal abortion law to date, and the whole Catholic Community was in an uproar.

Yet, within a month, we received a letter to go home to give permission for all students to receive the MMR, or something like it, at school.

As it turned out, the seventh and eighth grades were too old for this vaccine, , but a couple of the students who knew me from the very beginning, i.e., first grade, 1960, were quick to point at me and laugh that my family and I were not vaccinated. [whispers - everywhere]

I should have been pointing and laughing at them for their gross, rank hypocrisy, but then, I am not that kind of person.

Thank you for reminding me.

Next year at this time, I will be enrolling my youngest child in a Catholic High School.

I have NEVER had a problem with my older children in enrolling them in a school, public or private, in any state as I always arrive ready for a fight with all of my information ready, however there is always a first time, so I will add this to my armament of artillery to enroll my youngest.
:

It has been a joy to raise my family as AP as I could possibly in this day and age in the big city.

I am proud of my children, I have few regrets, and I look forward to the next generation as they hopefully following my example. :

T A lots of hypocrisy out there!

The answer to your question is, "$".

I think you should look into who is financing PETA.

They get all upset about people wearing real furs, when those animals are raised entirely for that purpose; that does not make it right in my eyes, but it is less dangerous to my health personally than an injection cultured on a diseased animal's organs.

Follow the $ trail.

If I can add to my list of posts here, I would like to recommend an oldie but a goodie book called Sacrifice of the Innocent, by Hans Reusch, with a foreward written by Dr. Robert Mendelsohn. It is about animals used in medical research and the financial interests behind it.

A companion book is, The Naked Empress, by the same author about the fallacies of the medical profession worldwide.

I am guessing.

Why would PETA go after the fur industry which is large, but not the medical and pharmaceuticals which are humongous and monstrous?

I am guessing that these interests would stomp on PETA and PETA be ridiculed out of existence.

Wow great point Applejuice! I never thought of that. We decided against vax on our two cats. No way was I injecting my animals if I don't inject my own child. They are indoors anyways.

ummmmmmm did ya read the article? I think it's obvious why PETA would be pissed about vax!!!

PETA hasn't come out against vax because they are outside of the mainstream but they aren't like... wackos!

on the catholic church part. We are Catholic and I read an article on this one time. I didn't bookmark it and I need to find it again.

BASICALLY, the jest of it was that even though the fetal cells were from an abortion, it was done and over with and getting the shot doesn't make more abortions. They were saying that more good than harm was coming from them and even though they don't condone the abortion in question, they do condone vaccinations.

BUNCH OF BS in my opinion. DH says that he feels that oking the use in the vaccines is oking the abortion, even if it was many years ago.

Bring him pages from www.cogforlife.corg Lotsa good Catholic stuff there. Including your right asa Catholic to religiously object.

But remember teh Catholic church has much $$ in Pharmas, hospitals, etc. And if the Catholic church did speak out agains tpharmas teh $$ lost would be humongous. I do not know if this is still true but I know 15 years ago some Vatican related hospitals were even performing abortions...

Back to PETA...

Yes, bebesho2, the Vatican owns stock in the companies that manufacture the birth control pill and the man who developed the birth control pill was a practicing Roman Catholic. He did most of his research on poor women in his Boston community by doing abortions on them; he did this unbeknowst to them by scheduling a hysterectomy when they were pregnant and did not knowit. This assisted his research into the female reproductive cycle.

Too much hypocrisy here.

Back to PETA....

Back to PETA, I think there are two issues - yes, the pharmaceutical industry is HUGE and will stop at nothing to stop people trying to stop it. Make sense? But the fact is that most people in this country are going to be vaccinated and not think about it at all. But there are so many other animal right's or cruelty issues where people might actually stop eating meat, stop buying fur, stop supporting certain companies that it's better to focus on issues where you can make a difference.

A vegan's two cents.
