Why isn't PETA all pissed off about vaccinations? - Page 2

We don't have PETA in this country but all the anti-vivisection peeps in the UK never seemed to leap up & down about how vaxes are made either when I lived there. I think the poms have the most militant animal rights activists groups in the world. You'd think they would have noticed. But then most anti-vax sites talk about the danger to humans of injecting animal DNA directly into their blood stream, rather than also mentioning the animal rights issues of how they got said DNA. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to work out how they get it from the animal, but it never seems to be spelt out in B&W.

Are PETA quite mainstream ?

No, not at all...in fact if they took up the anti-vax cause it would probably affect the credibility of anti-vax in a negative way, not in a good way. So it's probably just as well.

This may be really naive of me (forgive me, I'm new to this) but on a similar note, why hasn't 60 minutes or other mainstream media been all over this issue? Is it all about money and who's funding what?

I think it does have to do with money. IMO pharma companies spend so much money of tv advertising, the stations don't air anti-vax segments for fear of losing the $.

Everytime I hear about PETA I think "Oh no, what stupid thing have they done now?" My DH hates them.

Last summer we went to a Health and Harmony Fair in Sonoma County CA. One of the main reasons we took the kids was because they said they had "activities" and "puppet shows" for the kids. DH and I were so disgusted with the puppet show, and the kids were so bored and didn't understand what was going on that we left. The whole thing was PETA related. And they keep telling the kids not to eat meat, graphically describing how cows are treated, tell their parents to check out and join PETA, and on and on and on. I thought the whole thing was inappropriate and pissed me off more than making me want to help them.

If PETA got on the vaccine bandwagon people would think that those who don’t vax are even freakier than they do now. No one takes anything PETA does seriously.
