OUr dog Lady is lost! She got out early this morning and when i called them to eat breakfast, she wasn't there. I ran all around the neighborhood but couldn't fid her. We left fliers around our neighborhood nad will take more to petsotres and other bulletin boards. I am so worried...I've been crying all morning. My poor doggy...it's SO hot outside! We checked the shelter but nothing yet...we have to go back in the afternoon. Please send us good thoughts!

Oh my, Im so sorry! The same thing happened to our cat a while back . Have you checked with the local vets. i know a lot of people here would take animals to local vets instead of the control facilities. Walk around door-to-door and ask your neighbors. Drive around and call the dog. Our dog has done that a time or two and mostly she just wants to run around in the neighborhood for a while then comes back. I'm sorry though, you must be worried sick

I used to live in AZ. If your dog does not come back-

1-Call your local County pound - they may have a lost/found service if not, you may have to go check every other day
do this religiously b/s animals in Maricopa go every 3 days

2- do you live in a county with a Humane Society?
if so, they usually have a lost pet service.
check often b/c animals go a little longer.

3- it's a fallacy that lost animals can find their way home...
they get panicked & lose their way. dogs can cover a great distance - check near-by sub-divisions.

4- look on www.petfinder.com
they used to have a lost & found section.

5-look in your local phone book for lost pet orgs... Phoenix used to a 2 or 3 you could call

6-try to offer a reward for your animal - it can motivate some people more.

7-check with Vets in your area - many people that can't hold a lost animal will take it to the Vet.

8- sadly, does your city have a deceased dog/cat pick up?
Phoenix does & you can call every night to check
I don't mean to upset you & by no means do I want to but it's is an option

if you are in Valley, yes the heat is an issue & sometimes they will hide out until night & then roam

I'm speaking out of experience as someone might have stolen of let out 1 of my dogs (15 yrs ago) & these are the routes I took.

I'm so sorry & keep us updated

here's the update:

Well, I have bad news. Last night the Humane Society called and came over to tell us that they had found Lady dead. She was hit by a car. They gave us her collar with her tags but couldn't give us the body becuase it was too messed up. I am in shock, I've been crying all night and barely got any sleep. My other dog Tyson and my dad's dog Goldie keep looking for her and look confused everytime they can't find her. And dd keeps asking where 'Ady is (she can't say lady yet). It's horrible. Please send us some prayers and good thoughts.

Oh mama, I'm crying as I'm reading this I'm so terribly sorry for your loss, and I'm sure the hole in your family's web will be felt for some time.
I'll keep you in my thoughts & prayers as you go about your day.

I'm kind of freaking out here myself, because last night, I dreamed that my dog was hit by a car(& died as a result). The image is *so* vivid in my mind, I felt physically ill when I woke up. And my dog's name is Lady, too.
