I couldn't believe it!
I bought this week's People
: because of the Kenny Chesney/Renee Zellweger cover, okay. I love Kenny.
:
Anyways, at the end of the mag is a two page article about the risks of episiotomies and it basically says that most people don't need them
. One OB does say that "I don't think any woman should put handcuffs on her OB"
as in, don't tell him he can't do one at all. But overall the article is very fair and balanced.
Then, they go so far as to have a box about C sections, talking about the rise in rates, and saying that it's not a good thing. Gives some of the (flimsy) reasons that many people are having sections. The end of that bit is kind of stupid though - it quotes a lady who's had two elective sections because "I was scared of all the things that could go wrong with delivery" and "A C-section seemed more controlled".
:
Anyways, just thought I'd share
