the "I'm Crunchier than Thou" thread - Page 4

Actually, that was me...

We are so crunchy that we sleep only in handmade hammocks woven from our fallen hair... I am so in tune with my children that they only need look at me to communicate their needs.
My nine year old son leads our unschooling home school... he reads waldorf approved stories to the youngers who sit and listen quietly and rapturously every morning and night. At which point they then go to have homemade oranically grown granola, with breastmilk for snacks. We then partake of dandelion wine made only from the dandelions found in our yard, after they have gone to seed.
Our straw bale house is lit only by beeswax candles made from our own hives (from free range bees!). We only have a packed earth floor which I sweep daily using a handmade broom made of the winter grass....

Enough. I must go and commune with my children. I feel their needs...

You EAT your lawn?!!
How selfish of you. You think that because there are so many of them, each individual blade of grass's dream to become whatever it may wish is not to be respected?! That just angers me to pieces!! Here's to all the poor blades of grass you have already murdered and will most likely continue to murder in the future: : :

We only eat air.

Hilarious!!!

I have to tell you mamas that this is the funniest thing I have read in a long time. Even my husband, who hates my somewhat crunchy ways got a kick out of it. Thanks for starting my afternoon off with a great laugh!!

Oh, we don't have any grass in our lawn, only wild herbs like plaintain, dandelion, lamb's quarters, red clover and colt's foot. It's totally sustainable, you can harvest the leaves and they grow back. We do offer silent thanks to the plants before we go out to gently pull up the leaves, and only take the ones that eagerly release themselves into our hands. We also hike 40 miles on Wednesdays to the nearest beach to harvest sea vegetables and dry our own salt. I'm not being defensive or anything, I hope you refrain from flaming me and judging me too harshly.

I've heard about the all-air diet. My midwife said it wasn't good for me while I'm nursing the baby (and the cat) but I've been reading here that an all-air fast will really clean you out inside from all the dross of modern living, and that people who do a 40 day air fast can perform photosynthesis. Do you think that even though I'm pregnant, exclusively nursing a 14 year old baby girl and a pregnant cat and training for a triathalon that the air diet might be right for me?

I'm going to have to go out back and adjust the solar panels to get continued internet reception. catch you later.

As long as the 14yo isn't also pregnant and/or nursing, it should be fine. I mean, it's not like you're training for the decathalon!!

Actually, captain, don't forget about the millions of germs and bacteria you are thoughtlessly slaughtering by breathing... For shame.

I have to go drain the rainwater from our roof... i need to make soup today.

No, Beckie, that's your thatch roof leaking....
You guys have a roof? Talk about a disconnection from nature. What's wrong, are you afraid of the natural sky?

More like the bird excrement falling from it... or do you have a way to convert that to energy? I'm open to suggestions... After I get off the bicycle generator I use for the house.
OMG

I think I'm gonna die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! : : : : : : : : : : :

And then my Dh and my kids will bury me in our very own plot in our back yard, after 3 days of joyful remembrences and after treating my ody with natural oils that were "given" to me by fresh floewers and herbs

Oh, come on. Didn't you read Mother Earth News ed. 215? When the bird exrement falls into our roofless thatched-hemp house, we channel the birds through elimination communication so their excrement forms furnishings inside the house.

Right now, we're 3/4 of the way done with the dining room table.

Get with it, Lisa :

Buzzing isn't crunchy!! You should have used a fair-trade naturally mined sharp rock to shave your hair instead!!
