Need some reassurance

I'm on day 5 of an elimination diet to try and help my son's eczema. The last few days his skin on his face has been healing really well, but yesterday it had a real flare up. I am totally down about this. I'm really struggling with the diet and feel like giving up because of it.

Could it be a reaction to giving up foods? As in our bodies are now eliminating toxins????

How do you keep going on this diet? Has anyone got any tips?

Also how quickly would a reaction to animal dander happen. We visited someone with a dog on Saturday and the flare up happened on Sunday. (We have dogs ourselves but they live outside)

I know it is tough. We have been there too. But hang in there! It is so important. Reactions can happen anywhere from immediately to a couple days later, so this could be the case w/the dog reaction (or it could have been something else in their home.) Are you keep an allergy/food journal? That really helps when trying to pinpoint reactions. Good luck. You are doing a great job.

thank you. Yes I am keeping a diary - has been food only so far but will start noting down a bit more.

It always took us a good week to notice solid results from our eliminations. After that it was smooth sailing as long as the culprit remained eliminated. Sometimes a flare up happened for no apparent reason. Other times we discovered that the allergen had accidentaly been ingested. Like vanillin for my gluten-free girl.

Hang in there!

As a mama on here once told me: Focus on the food you can eat rather than those you can't.
