Ending testing requirements for Oregon HS'ers!! - Page 2

I checked several different testers in the area, and they average $45. We are required to have a test every year, and eventually will be HSing three. I should get off my posterior and start writing my legislators.

They make you pay for the tests?? Well that is something that would send DH back over the edge. He already doesnt agree with my decision to home school next year, and if we were in California and my children were actually learning something in school I probably would have never considered it. But here, my children have learned nothing all year. It was a big waste of time. All the meetings, empty promises, emails that end up being hostile, I am tired of it!!! I realize you only have to test is 3, 5 and 8th grade but I will have a 3rd and an 8th grader in the same year. Also what where the benchmark tests my 6th grader "blew out of the water?" I thought they didnt test in the 6th grade. Does anyone know if this bill passed or not? That would totally suck to be required to take a test then be required to pay for it. No wonder so many people dont even both to register.

The good news aniT is that you and your child set the grade they're in so they never have to be in 3rd. 5th or 8th grade. They can skip a grade, lol.
