need a "how-to" for the hibiclens rinse for GBS+

I also posted this on my birth month pregnancy board...

I'm GBS+, and partly treating myself with hibiclens. I have a bottle of it, but I have no idea what to do with it.

I keep reading of the "rinse", but what exactly does a "rinse" entail? Are we talking about an external splashing? Douching? I'm not quite comfortable with the thought of douching, since it seems contradictory...seems like it would push the bacteria up towards the cervix, but I don't know?
I've also read both full strength, and a solution, so which is best? Should I expect any burning/stinging or irritation?

I need gory details from somewhere, and I can't find them through a regular google search or anything, so if anyone has a "how to" they could give me, it would be appreciated.

Howdy!
Well I will try to give you the down & dirty of what I did. I used the Hibiclens before my GBS test. I washed myself w/ full strenth then rinsed. I then diluted it half w/ water & did a douch. This time I will not douch. I later found out it could cause problems. My midwife told me I could super soak a tampon & wear it for about 15 mins. After the douch I tried to ummm...swab my rectum. But I could not reach. So my midwife had the pleasure of swabbing me. Ahhhhh good timessssss! In the end (no pun intended!) My test turned out negative.
When I went into labor I just used the Hibiclens like a soap & washed myself. Just make sure you rinse yourself real good. You may be sensitive to it.
Hope that helps!

Here is a great link

It really isn't necessary to do the Hibiclens wash until labor starts/ waters broken which ever is first. My midwife suggested I then do a wash every 4 hours. It only kills the GBS temporarily and does so immediately so there is no need to do multiple treatments over your pregnancy. Also just doing the wash before the GBS test- you are almost guaranteed to get a negative result- but then GBS usually recolonizes and you still have to do the wash during labor...

My midwife had me put about an inch and a half of Hibiclens in my peri-bottle and fill it the rest of the way with water. Since GBS lives mainly in the lower part of the vagina she had me just gently squirt some of the solution into my vagina (not hard like a douche or anything).
