Satellite Internet

I'm not sure I've put this in the right place but I was hoping some of you could answer this question. We are looking into Satellite Internet because DSL and Cable Internet or TV are not available to us. Does anyone have any experience with it?

The cost in our area is $150 startup and 69.99/month or $200 startup and 49.99/month with a 3 year contract. It's through Starband if that helps and our local retailer does not charge for installation.

We don't have it b/c we have a great cable internet provider, but I've heard great things about that type of service. Sorry, I know that's not much help.

I've got it, and it's great. I do about half of my work from home (I bring ds to work, so I don't get a full day in ) and I also have a part time job as an online college math prof.
I tried to go with dial-up (no cable, dsl, etc.) out here and it was just not working (took 5-10 minutes to download the average homework assignment, which made grading take forever!)
The download speed is comparable to my T1 at work, and the upload speed is comparable to dsl. We've only had one or two days where the weather has affected the satellite link, and generally it's been pretty reliable. I used to get the connection dropped all the time with dial up, but that doesn't happen now.
It's not cheap, I think I'm paying about what you are talking about, but I don't think I could keep up with the teaching job without it, and it also allows me to work from home with my main job, saving a big drive into work.
