any CNM's in Boston area that are willing to do a homebirth??

I am new to the board. I am a birth doula (since 1998)I have a daughter 8-16-98 (hospital birth with CNM, beatuiful, no drugs, no tears, no seperation) and a son 9-11-02 born at home by a law midwife, a peaceful beautiful birth for us. I can not use her this time. My next baby is coming in December. I need to use a CNM in order for BlueCross to pay for it. But this baby must be born at home. I don't have $4000 to pay for it otherwise. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for everything,
Gracie

Welcome to MDC!!!!!!

I did a search at the site for the American College of Nurse-Midwives, and the closest CNM homebirth attendant was in Peterborough, NH!!!
That's a long drive!

You could try a search here:

Also, check out MDCs Finding Your Tribe section...

good luck to you!

I'm in Ma & hvae not found ANY CNM's who do HB's. I have a lay midwife who used to be a nurse--I'm sure that won't count for BC/BS though. Her fee is $2900.

It's my understanding that in Maassachusetts there are two types of midwives. CNM practice under the supervision of doctors in and around the hospital and or birthing center and due to law and insurance regs are prevented from attending homebirths. Direct entry midwives don't deal with doctors or hospitals much. They are homebirth midwives.

I'm not an expert. I may be wrong. The way it was explained to me a CNM would be breaking the law if she attended a homebirth. Call a midwife of any type and ask. It's also possible that some homebirth midwives can accept insurance. Many have a sliding scale fee, will barter etc.
