Maybe try the Darling Diapers pattern? It's inexpensive, easy to use, has clear & comprehensible instructions & pictures, and you can modify it (normally it's a pocket) to make a fitted, an AIO, a wool cover...do a search for "darling diapers" in this forum and you should find a link to it. Sorry - I thought I had bookmarked it, but apparently not.
