Cover elastic ?

Thread Starter
I tried a new diaper cover on DD this morning, and it didn't fit very well. I had used FOE for binding, and it wasn't tight enough in the front of the legs, and I guess I stretched it too much across the front waist.

When you do elastic on covers, do you stretch it over the front waist? And any suggestions on how to get it tighter over the front of the legs?

Right now, it has one row of snaps across the front. Should I try adding another row to try to adjust the tightness in the legs? I'm not very good at making my own adjustments, so thought I'd ask for experience first

Thanks!

I'd probably take off the FOE and re-apply it. I've tried using it twice now and I stink at it! lol I will try again but I can't get it tight enough either. For now I'm sewing 1/4 or 3/8 inch knitted elastic blind.. it's easier and seems to work better for me but I have a serger and that helps. If I didn't I'd still turn covers at the very least because I'm not feeling the FOE love! LOL

I stink at FOE too :LOL I make T&T diapers and either do a casing or stitch the elastic in blind. I made some FOE covers, but I really didn't like working with it.

I've never tried using FOE. What works well for me is Stretch-Rite; I just tack it to the starting & stopping points, then hold it tight & do a 3-stitch zigzag over it, and it works great. I don't do casings b/c I'm lazy & have a serger (hmmm...the 2 might be connected :LOL )

I'm not having the greatest luck with FOE either. I figured it was just me. My stepmom is supposed to come help me later to see if we can figure out what I'm doing wrong. If we figure it out I'll let you know.
