Anyone nursing? - Page 2

Hi everyone - good to see you here Tomsgirl!
I'm due Feb.1 (although dd was early, so technically I'm pretty sure I'll be having a January baby), and still nursing my 17 month old dd. It definitely hurts and brings on some nausea. And she's also nursing quite frequently. So far, we have had success with managing the pain when I make sure to correct her latch, but her nursing can be fairly acrobatic at times.
I'm also afraid my milk will dry up. I was wondering if any of you know anything that can be taken to help supply during pregnancy? Everything I've read about fenugreek says it's out because it can cause uterine contractions, but is there another herb that's safe? Dd is so reliant on breastmilk, and I'm really looking forward to tandem nursing.

There is a tincture that motherlove makes--I think it's called more milk two? It's for pregnancy. Not the more milk plus---that has fenugreek. I think it's their regular tincture without the fenugreek. Not sure what's in it.

here it is http://www.motherlove.com/product_mo..._glycerite.php

HerthElde

I would think the Nursing Mother's Herbal and/ or the Wise Woman's Guide to the Childbearing Year would have some good info on milk supply.

I just found out that I'm due with #3 at the end of Feb. and my 2nd is just 8 months. He has never had formula so I have to BF and pump in case I dry up.Iam worried about that.I also know I will get some comments when people find out because I'm already different enough from my circle of friends for still BF.I intend to nurse them both if I can.

I am also nursing a 15 mos old (Hi, Boobiemama!). So far, okay. I have delevloped some tenderness issues in the past few days, minor but for the dread of what it might portend.

When I was pg last time I ended up having to wean ds1 (who was 2.5 at the time) due to intensely sensitive nipples. I remember telling dh it felt like 1000 little fairies all licking my nipple simultaneously...and not in a good way! I knew ds wasn't ready to wean. There simply did not appear to be another choice. At least I was able to nurse him thru the worst months on the hyperemesis.

I am reading AITN right now. I am enjoying it. It's very thorough!

I seem to have plenty of milk right now...or my bbs are just bigger!

It would sure be nice not to have to wean my baby...

Last night was my 1st night of really true "get the heck off my boob"-ness. Luckily, she responded well, with only a few tears and a little crying. I got her some water, put a shirt on (to eliminate temptation) and suggested she lie with daddy. She was awake for about an hour, during which I kept shushing her (she talks randomly). Thank goodness for a little non-nursing sleep. I had no idea she'd pick up her nursing so much when I got pregnant.

I'm still nursing my 21 m.o. During my last pregnancy, I saw a high risk doc (for preterm labor) and she was ok with my continuing to nurse. DD weaned at 4 months when my milk supply dropped (she actually complained that they were "broken"!). I'm not sure about this time because my history is even worse - my last child was born at 29 weeks and the one before at 32w.

I am nursing my 2 1/2 year old. I am torn about weaning her. In some ways it makes sense to try to wean her since she will be over three when the baby is born. Right now nursing is not too painful, just a little bit when she first latches on. I would just love to be able to sleep a longer stretch at night. Not that weaning her would definately take care of that anyway.
