13 moons:

This happened to my mom when she had eight children already enrolled in the public school district - none vaxed. This is in So California, cerca 1974.

That is why I personally always keep a copy of the law on hand - for people, nurses, doctors, social workers, office workers who have no concept of the law they think they are enforcing.

Good luck and let us know what happens.

Thanks applejuice--I have 2 other kids at the same school, one of whom--the oldest--was fully vaxed, but my middle dd has an exemption on file as well and no word on that one, so perhaps I did forget to sign? We'll see. I am hoping it is an honest mistake and not something they want to make an issue of. The school secretary certainly didn't think twice when I asked for the exemption form, so...

Arkansas

has repealed the religious exemption. Now it's strictly medical. Good thing we're planning to homeschool already!

Any Colorado experiences? I read through all six pages, but I don't think there are any so far.

Just realized I forgot to update re. my son's vax form at school. It was really no big deal. I had in fact signed the exemption box on the back and the secretary at the school said she didn't know why the district had sent me the letter. I'm guessing it was because he didn't have a single immunization listed on the front so they probably just in a hurry assumed I had forgotten it. Small pain in the neck, but it worked out just fine. Thank goodness.

Pariah,

this doesn't answer your question...but it is an interesting colorado piece.

Any one have any info on Kansas? My kids are fully vaxed except for the chickenpox and I refuse to make them have this before they go to kindergarten. How do I claim religous or medical if this is the only one they are not getting? Neither one has had the pox.

thanks

Do not give the school any vax records...simply claim the religious exemption. They won't know that you did some vaxes; it'll seem like you've done none at all.

I too, would not give them any background of your vaxing record. All they need to know is that you are Religiously exempt from here out.

I think it is fairly simple in Kansas. I have had no problems as of yet with my son's montessori school, though they did ask that our doc also sign saying that he is aware of our non-vaxing stance. As for public school...I had a friend having issues with her 1st grader getting enrolled, but it turned out to be more of a small town, everyone knows everyone, butt out of my business problem than a real issue. I think that you are fine. I haven't even needed to have an exemption form notorized, though I have a couple on hand if every asked.

My son was also in early intervention speech services and I had to produce an exemption form for that. But there were no questions asked afterward.

Alaska????

So we only have medical and religious up here. Fairbanks isn't that big of a city and our dr. goes to our church. We attend a Lutheran LC-MS church. Since my only option is religious....how do I go about this (assuming we go with public school)? I'm against the fetal tissue in the vaxes that contain it...but what about the others? Any ideas?

Thanks!
Jenn

I created a thread for Alaskan residents. If you have any questions, please post them in there so that other residents who come here can be referred to that thread.

more on tennessee

i see a lot of 'well, we're going to homeschool' here, & in tn, just fyi, homeschoolers are subject to the same laws on immunization as everyone else (don't know about other states- does anyone have input for this?)

http://tnhomeed.com/Immune.html

it is relatively simple so far, but colleges are asking for more info than the state requires at this time & we may be looking at a battle. (dd is partially immunized, & i don't have to reg for homeschool till oldest ds is 6- he's 5 today btw, whoo-hoo!- so i will get to enjoy health dept fun next year.)
