i dont have the pattern yet but was wondering is the absorbency for the newborn/XS size the same as the absorbancy for the larger sizes?

how many layers of birdseye is it?

All sizes have 8 layers of birdseye in the soaker and 2 full birdseye layers in the body. Of course, the newborn diaper is smaller than the large diaper so the large diaper would, technically, absorb more liquid. But the layers are all the same. I found that my newborns were super soakers, so I didn't see a reason to skimp on absorbent layers. If your newborns don't wet as much you could probably omit some layers if you like.
