Has anyone worked them, or is working them? I did rather thoroughly eight years ago, and every once in a while I remember them and they're still so helpful at putting things in the proper perspective. These two words in particular always jump out at me: powerlessness and surrender. My two good friends!

Hey there, ladylee!
I'm seven years sober in AA and yes, I still find working with them helps tremendously! Practicing these principles in all our affairs, you know.If I'm struggling with some issue or other I'll write out the 12 steps specifically with that issue at the core.
e.g. MIL issues:
Step 1: I admit that I am powerless over my MIL and my life has become unmanagable.
etc. You get the picture. It keeps me sane in some of those bad moments.

Hi shine
--how've you been these days? Sorry to hear you have to plug your MIL into the equation
. Congratulations on seven years though!
Step 1 is so amazing isn't it? It's so great to turn something over when I've been thinking about it obsessively, getting nowhere. I love to then watch things work themselves out, in spite of me :LOL! And #'s 6 & 7 are so incredible.

I have a dh in AA and I am active in Alanon. Like Shine said, I have found so many ways to apply it to my everyday life.

Cool! I've been dinking around these Mothering boards for a few months - too many forums that apply to me!!! Today I came here for the first time wondering if I might find any other 12-steppers -yea! I'm still a "baby" in the program (Al-Anon), but my sponsor says I'm where I need to be. Glad to have found you all! Even though I'm not through all the steps, the peace and serenity I keep encountering is a powerful motive to "keep coming back"
