Dog People!! I have a dog

that needs a new home. He's a border collie (?) mix, amazing with kids, other dogs and cats.

HE NEEDS ROOM TO RUN.

He's VERY smart, would LOVE to have a JOB to do. I think he would thrive in a home in the country somewhere with land to run.

Can anyone take this dog, or do you know someone who would want him? I'm at the end of my rope with him wanting to roam and herd the neighborhood.

He was a stray, we found him in our front yard 2 years ago. Now I know why he was a stray!! He's not a city dog, he's a country dog.

Please? Anybody? I'm in the DFW area of Texas. Could probably make arrangements to get him further if need be.

I think it is great that you are seeking a new home for your doggy. Many people just won't admit that they are not providing the best home for their dog and instead just let the dog suffer.

I've emailed them and I'm crossing my fingers, but I've contacted several rescue groups in the past and they all told me how to "fix" the problem so I could keep the dog.. At this point, I resent him and I don't *want* to keep him. He'd really be better off somewhere else.

My poor ds goes into a hysterical panic whenever Rudy takes off and I just dunno why my dog Blaze won't go 5 feet from my side but Rudy takes off like a shot at every opportunity. And I *don't* want to keep Rudy chained up in the backyard all the time. That breaks my heart. He's a freedom lovin' dog, there's nothing he likes more than running around after a ball.

I burned my bare feet this morning chasing Rudy at full speed a block and a half down 100 degree sidewalk before I lost track of him. : Still hurts. :LOL Then the mailman came by cussing up a storm. Rudy broke through my $25 Sporn halter I had him tied up in the front yard in while the heating/ac guys replace our system. One minute he's tied up right next to me, the next he's tearing down the street with me right behind him. I'm not this irresponsible let-my-dog-roam-wherever-all-the-time person. I'm terrified he's gonna be hit by a car.

I don't know what to do with this dog.. but I'm to the point now I really just don't want him *here*.

Update:

It's not even 9 AM and Rudy's all ready gotten loose this morning.

AC repairman came in, dh let the dogs in from the backyard into the house. Rudy went STRAIGHT for the front door and took off without even stopping.

DH is combing the neighborhood now looking for him. It looks like he may be going to Animal Control today.

If anyone knows of anyone that can give this dog a reprieve, now would be the time..

Dh talked with the ac repairman that was here, and I don't want to jinx anything but the AC repairman really liked Rudy and is going to talk to his family about bringing him home.

Rudy's gone. Not to his new home. Nope. Someone left the door to the garage ajar while I was doing yardwork. Garage door was open, I didn't know it until my dog Blaze (the good and LOYAL one!) came around front to find me.

So Rudy took off again. Good thing, I guess, since it's strengthened my resolve to get the turd outta here as soon as is humanly possible. I was starting to have second thoughts. He's such a good dog with such a great personality, and what would Blaze do without him? Hah! I'm throwin' a party as soon as the new owner drives him away. :LOL

Now if he just gets his wanderlustin' butt back here soon so the guy can pick him up tomorrow and cart him away. AWAY!!

Then I won't hafta worry about him anymore.

Rudy went to a GREAT home!!

The ac repairman came back yesterday and he was so excited to take Rudy home to his family. He thanked us several times. I gave him full disclosure on Rudy's escape antics and he said "I think we can handle that."

We gave him Rudy's dog house, football, a blanket and a new leash as well as some of Rudy's dogfood to tide him over during the switch. Rudy jumped up in the truck's front seat ready to go!

Mike has 4 kids, all older than mine and said his dd takes his other dog for a walk every night! Rudy is going to love that! That's what I told Mike, that I thought Rudy liked to escape because we couldn't get him the exercise he needs. He'll have plenty now.

I feel really good about it! It's like a weight has lifted.

Now, just one mama kitty and six kittens to go.
