Can I get a perscription for Ivermetin from the vet in "mange dose"? I'm assuming it isn't just sold over the counter since it isn't for heartworm.

Yes, she took the puppy. She is an adorable, sweet chocolate lab puppy about 7 weeks old and went to a wonderful home. The mother belongs to someone so I couldn't take her. He told me she is getting treatment for allergies, but it looked more like demodectic mange to me. Not much I could do about that. I did not need a puppy but I took her anyway because she was living under a shed and completley flea infested. I de-fleaed her, arranged for immunizations and worming, and found her a home already.

This was on Sunday. And that night when I got home out of nowhere came another dumped stray hungry puppy. So I have to figure out something for her now. It really is a big problem out here and I try to do my part. This one is very smart, but hyper and a digger. I trained her to sit in less than 5 minutes. She is going to be huge, too. She will probably go to a shelter because she is at her most adoptable now, but at least it is better than what she had. The choc. lab puppy was easy to find a home for, this one will be difficult and I do not want to find myself in a situation like last time where I kept the strays until they got huge because no one wanted them.

Yes, you can get a prescription. I've used it in a liquid form that I just squirted on her food but you can also get it in a paste form they use for horses and use like a 1/2 inch daily or something like that (I've never used the paste but it is the cheapest way to do it)

Glad the puppy found a home, good luck placing the second one!
