Breastfeeding mentioned on The View again today

At the end of today's show, they were trying to kill time and the hosts were asking each other what their summer plans are. When Elisabeth was asked what she is doing this summer, she said "Nursing, I guess." Barbara Walters quikly interjected "We love nursing! We love breastfeeding!" and all the hosts laughed.

It was kind of funny that it came up again after all the brouhaha. Barbara said it in a really exaggerated way, as if she was saying 'I don't want to get into trouble again.'

:LOL

So, did you consider it to be said in a positive "We learned something way" or a more negative "We have to be PC because of those crazy women" way?

You say it was at the end?
We have satellite TV - the channel called "talk" replays The View at night - I'll try to watch the end of it, to catch the tone of what was said.

Oh geez. Well, at least it's not another awful snarky comment.

That Elizabeth gets on my nerves. I rarely watch the View but I caught it the other day- Star Jones has lost a LOT of weight!! I thought she looked better before though, her head is too big for such a tiny body. She reminded me of Oprah when she lost so much weight & came onstage in skin tight jeans & a black turtleneck. Her head looked HUGE!

But I guess that is off topic... it sounds to me like they were being sarcastic, definitely.

I am officially psychic. I knew they would say something today! Bizarre!

I tried to watch it the other day to see if they would address the nurse-in and I just couldn't stand the way they all talk on top of each other. You can barely hear what any one of them is saying! (Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. )

Sounds to me like Barbara Walters was thinking, "just stop nursing at me! I give up!" :LOL

Oh, I missed it!

I guess I am still disappointed that they didn't feature it as one of their "Hot Topics" & really discuss it.

Oh, well...

I thought it was said sarcastic and dismissive! They never did discuss it in length after "oh yes tomorrow when Babs is here we want to address it" >sigh<

(I always catch the last 5 mins because I want to see the news@noon)

after having been warned here, I watched the last bit last night.

I definately think that Elizabeth planned to say it - as a shot at us. The way the others reacted, I don't think they knew she was going to say it. Joy went first and said she was going on a cruise with friends. Then Elizabeth said "I guess I'll be nursing!" and I swear I could see her biting her cheek to keep from smiling. Then the others started laughing and Babs quickly jumped in and looked at the audience and said "we love breastfeeding!"

Just her saying it that way, Elizabeth is implying that nursing takes your life away - it limits you. She just doesn't get it -that we weren't there to push her to nurse. We were there to protect the right for her to nurse, AND still have a life (by being able to nurse in public), AND not be subjected to stupid remarks by her colleagues and boss. (a harrassing work environment, IMO)

They must be very happy that this is the end of the season, and I'm sure they think it will all blow over by fall.

Lets send a real message to the view - and their sponsers

Hi Everybody this is my first time to post. I heard about the whole View episode a couple of weeks back and have been following it ever since. I am not a huge fan of the View to begin with and I work so I don't catch alot of episodes. Also maybe someone has already suggested this but I may have missed (at one point there were over 50,000 comments?) Anyway I think the View needs to apologize publicly on their show and do a whole segment on breastfeeding. These ladies need to come forward and acknowledge what they did. If they don't - there show will not be watched. I think that they have gotten so much publicity and people are now just watching to see what they will say - even if they don't like thier show (if I were home I know I would!). I think less viewership and letting their sponsers/advertisers know is what would make the biggest impact. Am I thinking too big?
I am so proud of all the ladies, babies (no matter what their age), dads, and family that came out for their support! It was amazing to watch. I am proud to be apart of this group of people that are raising and nurturing their children the way they we born to be!

I don't think (for me at least) the nurse in was so much about forcing The View into an apology. And frankly, I would rather they NOT do a breastfeeding show. Heaven only knows what sort of crappy advice they would give. I don't watch TV in the first place, but I did/am emailing all of their sponsors,
