Its a yishuv kehillati.

Its not all that cold here. You need an extra sweatshirt or light jacket in the evening and early morning. A sweatshirt or warm long sleeve shirt is enough in the middle of the day.

where is the slapping my forhead smilie? I was GOING to call you after the brit, as soon as I knew I couldn't make it, but totally forgot. I'm so sorry. How are you and how did it go? Give me a call when you are up for it, or I'll try to call you when I can. We have dinner guests tonight, so...we'll get in touch whenever we both can sort it out.

Anyways, great love to all of you. We'd all love to hear his name, I'm sure.

Started an online app with NBN, which promptly froze.

How's that for an intro to Israeli bureaucracy?

Dh has always been considerably less than ecstatic; however he his motivated not by passionate Zionism (as I am), rather economics. We can't stay where we are, there's no question of it. Long term -- no go. So our choices are to move to the hinterlands of the US or to come 'home.' Why not?! Hashem is closing one door and throwing open another right in our faces. Why wouldn't we try and climb through?!

Davening that the process should be straightforward, and you will find your "home" quickly!

Nick

Hope you are able to come!!!! Economics is a big factor for us too. We are so happy here, but honestly I don't know how we'd make it in the states (even "out of town" ) and what's better than raising our kids right here in EY?

How is everyone managing with the current security "matzav?" So far we are living life as usual. 2 of my brother-in-laws were called up for milium.

We've been affected by the current financial "matzav." Dh was laid off a month ago. He is looking for a new job...Unemployment doesn't suit him well.

Oh, and our car wouldn't start again this morning as I was heading out to a LLL meeting at BB's house :. Tow company should be here within 3 hours.

I was going to go to that same meeting...but we slept in after a late night. I saw your car get towed away.

We'll try to come over in a bit...or come over here?

Financial matzav, don't get me started. DH is ... um ... between jobs.

Security matzav, well, nothing so far, except that last night around midnight Yavne was hit by a rocket, and since Yavne is the next town over, we're ... paying attention. (Not like we weren't anyway, but YKWIM.)

Our close friends' (DH's khavrusa for many years, when we made aliya they kept learning by phone, and then they made aliya last year) son is in a tank ... waiting.

I guess we all are. Waiting.

Sorry merpk. I didn't realize Yavneh was hit. Was anybody hurt there? Sorry to hear about the inbetween jobs stance as well. These are tough times economically and otherwise. Everywhere.

Big hugs to all of you.

PS Kol HaKavod Israel!!! I wish there was never a war anywhere. I pray for peace. I pray to live with our Arab brothers and sisters in peace...sharing recipes. : (sorry, but for me, sharing a delicious meal together is the ULTIMATE in living!!!)

On my maps of the world, I see all of our surrounding countries. I hope to visit some of them one day. I don't erase any country from the map. I don't want to drive anyone into the sea.

But I DO want everyone to know that Israel is here, has as much a right to be here as any other country in the region...world...quite possibly more, and that sending rockets, no matter how small, no matter how few or many, no matter how deep, is UNACCEPTABLE.

I pray that Israel will create order in chaos. Safety for our country and for ALL of our citizens (Arabs, Christians, Jews, Immigrants, etc...) so that our country can be a light unto nations. Where a hodgepodge of nations live together in peace under our great flag. Working together for the betterment of humanity and mankind. Where we use our brains towards ultimate love and sister(brother)hood.

I am scared, of course, but also proud to be Israeli in moments like these. Fighting the good fight against terrorism and fear. THIS is why I wanted the Israeli Passport!

Kol HaKavod to Israel for finally standing up to her tormentors. For saying "NO MORE TERROR". I pray that this war will solidify our place in the universe. Will finally win us the respect of our Arab cousins but even more importantly, of ourselves.

I know we have some of our Arab sisters reading this thread, so I extend my hand to them in peace. Please take it if you love your children and love peace as I do. If you are willing to accept me as you neighbor and friend then I am willing to accept you as mine. If you are willing to speak out against terrorism. Against the terrorist desire to aliheniate a whole nation. If you are willing to take a stand on the side of love and common sense. It won't be easy. You will have to rebuke your leaders. You will have to say that peace is more important than war. That respect for others right to live and exist is more important than jihad. That Our G-d Created ALL of us equally and together. Not so that one group can be dominated and abolished but so that we can all learn and live with one another in harmony.

When you love your children more than you hate us...when we all love our children more than we hate others.

Hugs to all of us.

Stay safe, mamas.

All I can say is, it's about time they root out the terrorist infestation.

Oddly, dh is not even freaking out (re: war and our potential aliyah). I don't know why.

We are scheduled for an NBN seminar next week. Anyone know anything about the communities in Haifa? There are a lot of openings for surgeons at Rambam.

Thinking about you ladies and your families and praying for peace this morning.

Stay safe and I hope you find peace in your hearts that extends as far as it needs to go.

Wait, wait. There is positive news on the money front. DH has a job for three months, starting the beginning of February. The Reform movement has a school for American kids doing a term abroad sort of thing, right outside of Jerus. He'll be teaching AP chemistry for one term.

A job is a good thing. Even if it doesn't quite cover the rent.

Cool, mazal tov!

Okay, dh set up a 'commitment test.' If I tell my parents, he'll give himself a crash Hebrew immersion course (he has taught himself a few languages).

I'm committed but man, oh, man, I do not want to make that phone call. You all will hear the crying and yelling from the top of Mt. Hermon. Gack.

Oh Amy, by the way, a long time ago my brother did a semester his senior year of high school at a place in Hod HaSharon. Alexander Muss High School in Israel? Something like that. Maybe that would be a good place to look also?

So okay, if he's having trouble, does that mean that all the baloney I'm getting about how English teachers are needed in the high schools in Israel basically defines me as unemployable?
