Janulicious June #3 - Page 2

: on the out and about poos! Orin unloaded a huge one at a garage sale today It took the entire time JAC and Beca were there looking around to clean his smelly tush up :LOL

Jessi - sorry about Eve falling off the potty - not so bad as falling off the wagon, but... I'm glad everything's ok. That's awesome that she's taken so quickly and happily to the potty learning!

Lori - ug on the big fall. Glad he's a-ok. Beca took some big falls in her early days (well, rolling and crawling days were pretty bad, but NOTHING next to the toddling days : . Guess I wasn't very vigilant. Tell dh that a kid that doesn't fall once in a while is like a kid that never eats sand. Can't keep them in a bubble forever! It's CHARACTER! :LOL I'm loving the mei tai's here. We use the ring sling for the in and out stuff, esp. from the car shopping or whatever, but the mt's are GREAT for us for walks. He LOVES being sitting upright and DOESN'T love the dangley feeling of the wraps and bjorn. Tried it, didn't love it. MT's work for us, as do slings. I think everyone in our little Janulicious world has preferences, but a LOT of slingers. :

Joyce - RESIST THE DARK SIDE RESIST RESIST RESIST!!! :LOL (is Annie the dark side? A shade of taupe, perhaps, not too dark, I don't think... ). HOWEVER, if you don't have EXCELLENT nursing bras, mama, go and GET some PRONTO! I can't imagine nursing two w/anything but the easiest, bestest, most comfy bra possible! I'm thinking microfleece stretch panals w/silk cups lines w/ hemp sherpa :LOL

So in the last two days I've gotten SIX packages from the outrside world, including awesome: carriers (3 : ), bras (2), cookbooks (3), hemp doublers (13) (if you guys haven't tried Liz's I really recommend them. WAY best deal going that I could find), and a nursing shirt that came w/stains on it Should I call and ask whether they want it back or if I should wash it and see if they come right out??

Jessi - can a smilie end a sentance, or is that a dangling smilie error?

Ok, time to get the next one off to sleep : (the directional for this smilie cracks me up! :LOL ) Ok - 'night mamas!

No kidding, Jessi. Ever seen the Marshall fields in Chicago? VERY temple-like, down to the Tiffany dome in the center.
Hey was it big poo day or what? Is it like the scheduled growth spurts, the five month mammoth bowel movt?? Geneva made her biggest today in her diaper. It was unbelievable - leaked out the back and front and both legs!
:LOL Andy! I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed the fingers

Actually, can't do the Blue Canoe; seems I'm too big. I'm like a 42 DD or something now. I have 4 Bravados (thanks, eBay!), but they're kind of hot. They have all that extra fabric in back, although I guess I need the support.

So, speaking of boobage, did any of you with previous kiddos ever get back to your old bra size? I guess you had to wait until you were done with nursing, and then . . .? I have some really nice tailored suits (and the shirts to go with), a supercool TIGER CoolMax bike jersey, and some other more form-fitting stuff, and I don't know if I should get rid of it. Doesn't come close to fitting now. I guess I could have my mom store it at her house, but if chances are low that I'll ever fit into it again, I'm thinking I might as well eBay it now.

Carmen figured out breast compression? She's squeezing my boob while she eats!
Wow, that's pretty clever of Carmen.
I'll let the experienced moms answer the size question, but - do our ribs ever go back to the previous size? I know they expand in pregnancy. It seems unlikely they'd go back.

Wow, it is a big poo day. I bet Evelyn is still the only one who got poo on her hat!

Question: bugs. Something is biting us in our sleep. Evelyn woke up with four new bugbites on her head. I got a very very itchy one on my finger. The only bugs I see are small black ants and the occasional gnat. What non-chemically things can we do to our bedroom to discourage bugs? This is not like Hawaii - it is not something most people live with in St. Louis. (at least, not indoors, esp the bedroom)

Smileys are punctuation, right? That makes them a good way to end a sentence.
I had this whole thing posted about boob size and then Luka leaned over and deleted it all- i have this thing installed on my puter that turns the trackpad into some cool things and well, it's lame sometimes. argh
so I dropped Luka downstairs with the kids making trains and came back up here.

OK, on boobs:
mine get bigger when nursing and then afterwards shrink to tiny, stretched out deflated balloons- size 36AA (i.e. SMALL). nursing I'm a 36C. I think it has a lot to do with weight as well. I was skinny after nursing both R and N. maybe more weight and I woulda had some boobs?
so, IMO joyce, don't get rid of the clothes. there is a life post nursing.

bugs- is it the ants biting you? you can put boric acid powder where they are getting in- along baseboards, windowsills, etc.... that should help and is NON-toxic.

Jessi- didn't realize there were glamourmom dresses too.... hmmm.... wonder if my butts still too big for a med... I don't want a butt hugging dress right now. how's the fit on you? you wearing a med dress??

after reading about Andy's MASS consumerism in the past few days I don't feel as bad about mine :LOL thing is I'm going on a trip and I always go shopping in LA- it's just too convenient- my mom lives IN city. and then if I have time in SF, i'd like to hit some resale shops... but we'll see. with a babe those things are not as easy.

Annie- I will post pics with the diapes, when Luka's mosquito bites clear up a bit. they look horrible right now, after napping on a hot day- they're like blisters and there are just so many of them the diapers are really nice though- and super soft. they have soakers with them and for Luka, who's not a heavy wetter, they aren't even necessary for day. he just wore one for a few hours sans soaker and it wasn't drenched. I have to write LHC a thanks email. they are NICE diapers.

left the kid with the kids and I better get back to the crafing I'm doing.
AH! That was what I wanted to say...

Karen for Luka on the bites. Beca came home once from Ruby Creek (dh's family farm rec. property) COVERED in bites. Eyes swollen shut etc. Sucked for a few days. It was a while before I'd let her go back during high mosi season (yes, they have seasons in BC, 'cause it's not warm enough for most of the year).

You can also spray w/a soap and water mix. Dr. Bronners eucalyptus works well. It doesn't kill them, just can't walk on the slippery surface ... skating bugs :LOL

And I just added to the mass consumerism... EC store purchases inc. a diaper pail bag and a potty...looks like a cool one! How come everyone is all over the baby bjorns and not all over the unspillable ones? Those seem like a good plan...
glamourmom dresses - yep, i have a med knee-length. It fits quite snug. I could use a tad more room in the hx (evelyn is helping) hips and less in the waist, but that's ok. It looks really good.
Oh, and Karen, could you post the breast compression directions? I've never done it though I often massage my breasts while he nurses, esp the sides he isn't getting the most from, if you kwim.

My boobs def. got smaller afterwards. The more weight you lose, the smaller your top gets, too. Karen's bingo on that one, I think.

Az - Orin is almost, but not quite, 13 lbs. So he and E. are about 1/2 pound apart. Beca was the same. She is still a lean bean. Kids are just different. Try to relax. She (Elizabeth) seems like a very active, perfect little being. Let her be long and lean, ok? I'm sure glad you found a doc. who may be more into supporting your parenting decisions! Whew! Let's hope for the best!!! I will have Jerry get the tix this week. They are $20 each - do you want 3? Jr. and adult are same price, which is still lower than the Jr. price at the gate (and WAY less than the package on line - that's like $60 EACH!!!). And they ream you for everything inside, too...ugh. But it's a lot of fun on the rides for kids...maybe we can get dh's to hang w/babies for a ride or two??? NOT the super tippy zoom till you puke ones, but I like the water flume ones w/the inflateables and like that. You can pay pal me (newandytree1 @ yahoo . com w/no spaces), write a check, or give me cash when we get there. Not a problem. They're not date specific except they expire at the end of the 2005 season (I think even WE can manage that! LOL). But the 25th of July would be great! Maybe I'll even get my act together and get out to cleveland later that week and see Lisa and Lauren! We can share potty time Lisa - I'm going to investigate further and get back to you...just tell me if that 26 - 29th July week is bad for you.

Ok, time for bed...

I'm soooo hitting rock bottom tonight ~ dinner is microwave popcorn, while watching Hell's Kitchen! Brwwaaa haa haaa! : After the day we had, it feels sooooo good to just relax. Tess fell yesterday and skinned her knee really bad, and today it was sore & stiff, making her less than cheerful. Brynn's teething hard, and while she's still in good spirits this only lasts as long as she's in Mama's arms (unless, as we discovered, we're watching the Daily Show.... go figure!

Compression SO saved our lives when Tess was a babe. I haven't really had to do it this time around, but I remember it made such a difference for Tessa getting the hindmilk. I know that Dr. Newman has a good article on it (in case Karen's busy tonight)

Breast size ~ well, since I'm tandem nursing, I'm not sure what will happen to my size when not nursing.... haven't been not nursing since July 2002! I do know that my nursing bras from when Tess was little...well, let's just say my cup runneth over. I was a 32C before babies, and now probably a 34-36 D.

Ooh, Andy I'm glad you figured out the culprit! I *almost* ended up with a plugged duct a few weeks back, quite inadvertantly, when I wore a regular workout bra from several years ago instead of my regular nursing bras. It was a bit on the tight side, and I noticed by the end of the night I felt a blockage in one breast ~ ooooooch!

ok, back to Hell's Kitchen & the popcorn.... :
Interesting on the boobs. I really wonder what mine will look like when I'm done nursing. After 5 1/2 years straight, and 2 tandem sessions, they are um....beyond saggy. Before I had kids I was flat, not even an A cup. In fact, I didn't even wear a bra. - now I'm at a high C, low D, (don't know how that works, someone was explaining it to me the other day, and whew, like water running through a seive) I still don't wear good supportive bras, just the little camisole top kind, so yeah, its gonna be bad when I stop nursing!!! I'll have boob flaps.

Poor Luka, being eaten by mosquitos. We've been there. I second using a bit of eucalyptus Dr. bronners. Hiro did a bunch of research on them a while back, and euc is like the only natural repellant that will work on them. For some reason they don't bite Violet or me. They love Mak and Kobe though.

Jessi - have you tried vacuuming the mattress? That might help with the bugs. My guess is that its ants or mosquitos. DO you sleep with the window open. Could be lovebugs? I forget what they're called. Anyways, its some sort of bug that flies in the bedroom at night and bites people. I was reading about them in one of our bazillion bug books we have around here. They are those beetle type bugs with the orange markings on their back. Andy's dh prolly knows what I'm talkign about.

Ooh, Kathy, sorry about rock bottom. I'm there with ya. Dh is working till midnight tonight, so I'm stuck here with the buggers, and to top it off I lost my bankcard,(again ) so we can't even go anywhere.

: raising yourself a little liberal, eh??

gotta give the Ergo a BIG after reading Kathy's post I stuff Luka in there on my back and had the most comfy walk I've had since he's been born : I'm thrilled, can you tell?!?!?

`1Annie- are you meaning to put Eucalyptus on him? I was so nervous walking with him this evening- I kept making dh walk behind us and look for squitos..... it's very jungly here, so they're everywhere.

Annie0 your boobs will look like deflated balloons. I remember when Ra'am was a babe and i was big and voluptuous I saw a woman repeatedly at a nudie beach (on the red road) and she had the deflated balloons and i was shocked. and here I am.... same look (well not currently, But I'll get there for sure again). who cares though. IMO it's worth every feed!!!

we're off to a party for a little bit. aloha
post #34 of 502
hee hee, s'alright Annie, it's rock bottom in the sense of watching baaaaaad TV and eating baaaaaaad food, otherwise life is a-ok. Now I'm onto Gilmore Girls...

Karen - Yep, Brynn is figuring it out already! Atta girl Great that Luka liked the Ergo! Oh, it's so comfy isn't it?

hello all!!

Things here are going well. Eamon is doing really well at the whole potty thing. I never ec'd with him, just cd. I just am not home enough and diligent enough for ec. I applaud you mamas who do it.

Spent the day out and about. My niece had a bday party at Chuck e Cheese. I am not a fan of the place. Loud, busy and just annoying. DS seemed to enjoy himself. tHen on to a friend's house for a summer solstice-ish party. It was a nice day.

Hmmm....I don't have a maya. I have two slings, a pouch and a couple mei teis that I made. I am supposed to be getting a silk Taylor Made Treasure for modeling her slings on the website. I picked a rose silk one since it seemed impractical yet oh so nice and fun I keep stalking the postal carrier in hopes that it will come. She sent my friends sling to her and included all the photos from the session. I want to see them - there is one of ds with a kid's sling. He is wearing sunglasses-up side down, no less :LOL

Good bras are important, but I truly have no idea what size I am. I have the same style in three different sizes and they all fit - 38-42 D/DD. Pre-babies, I was a 36C. No idea on the size reduction issue, since I haven't stopped nursing really. I remember they did get smaller as ds got older...still too big for my old pretty bras.

Should head to bed. I read everyone's posts, but my head is slow tonight and I cannot remember what I wanted to say

For Father's Day, I did a handprint of ds and a footprint of dd with a poem framed for dh. Hope he likes...

Karen - I wouldn't put Euc EOs directly on him, per se...there are only a few safe essential oils for babes under a year and eucalyptus ain't one of them, and even then I can never remember whether its eucalyptus smithii, or globulus thats the safe one. I'd have to look it up . I would just go with Dr. Bronners. Probably the safest bet and the soap will keep the buggers from permeating the skin, like Andy said.

Ugh, we are in the jungle too and the mosquitos are awful right now. We can't even go outside after 4:00, and even then damn things just hover around our screen doors waiting for us :
We went to a party tonite up the road- a dance party. I didn't wanna leave I was having so much fun dancing, but Luka was getting sleepy and i was trying to avert a disaster with an overtired baby. We'll have to have a family dance party. dancing makes me happy

Breast compression- was gonna type out directions, but that link Kathy sent says it all. could help with the weight gain by increasing the hindmilk she gets. clearly she sounds like she's growing and developing wonderfully though.

baby wakes...gnite
Annie- you are BAAAD, turning me onto that blue canoe business. those prices are good! esp considering those clothes are organic!!!! which bra do you wear from there that provides good booby access?? will you get V one of those zen tops? oh SO cute!
Hrmmm...11:00 PM and my kitty hasn't come home for dinner yet....I saw her up the road this morning - I hope she didn't get stuck somewhere. She never stays out this late
post #40 of 502
