I'm going to post what I just posted in my mass email. I'm sure more details will come to mind as I post in the coming days, but I had to keep it somewhat kosher for the fam!
Labor felt different than with my son and when I was pushing I thought the midwife might have been out of her mind letting me do so because I didn't think I was even close.
My contractions were mostly extremely short and not that close together. With Tristan they were on top of each other and LONG. Maybe this is what happens with natural labor at home when things go right?
Anyway, here ya go!

Pictures are uploading right now; there will be 50 or so of them when they're
uploaded.
Shea was born at home at 5:04 this a.m. @ 39 weeks 3 days. It's the full moon
people!!! Here are her stats!
8lb 5oz
20 inches long
14 1/2 inch head
LOTS of brown hair
Labor really kind of sucked, it was mostly back labor even though she wasn't
posterior. Go figure!!
Long story short, my water broke at about 12:45 a.m., the midwife got there
about a half hour later. My contractions didn't start until probably 2 ish.
Everyone went to sleep, including Tristan who had been asleep already.
I woke up the midwife around 3:30 and she set things up... Around 4 things
started getting painful but I didn't think I was anywhere close. When she told
me I should probably take my underwear off, I thought she had no idea!!
I was in one position, laying over the bed screaming into a pillow. Tristan
didn't even PEEP, it's amazing what kids can sleep through. So Shea was born
with me standing up, the midwife passed her through my legs like she was a
football. I'm thinking "I'm supposed to hold her???" Strange what you think.
It was pretty amazing... My midwife rubbed my back the whole time until David
took over and we just let it happen. She didn't check me once, it was like she
knew my body better than me.
I didn't really have the urge to push physically, but mentally I did so about 25
minutes before she was born I did just that. It was nice not to have the baby
pulled out from me by the neck! Her head was born, and then I pushed the rest
of the body out when I was ready to (like immediately even though I don't think
I was having a contraction).
So right after she was born my parents arrived and my poor dad who's waiting on
his digital camera was taking pics with his cell phone. But I put him to work!
Afterwards we just laid around in bed!
Tristan woke up and has been unbelievable and LOVES this baby. He's called her
Angelica more than a few times, but all he wants to do is hold her and look at
her feet and touch her umbilical cord. I'll have to pull out the placenta
later!
He was pretty surprised to wake up to find that he had a little sister.
I'm sure I'm missing a few things... I'm tired but not. It's weird.
Anyhoo, enjoy the pics!!
