OK, how can you be....

FOUR CENTIMETERS and NINETY PERCENT EFFACED

and not be in labor?

(Can you tell Im getting just a little impatient for my first home waterbirth?)

I wouldnt have asked to be checked, but my midwife, whom I love to pieces like a sister, had two doula students and wanted to have them practice on me, trying to understand dilation and effacement and what it feels like. She knows I am a very compliant and laid back person, who doesnt mind being a guinea pig. So this is what they all decided.

She told me I was not allowed to squat during labor until she was safely at my house She was only half kidding

Just wanted to laugh about how our bodies are so amazing and let you know that I am excited about posting my birth story sometime in the next 2 weeks. Sooner rather than later would be great, since by uterine palpation she estimates junior in there is already an 8 pounder!

But I know the drill. Dilation and effacement mean nothing.....

You can make it! It is really exciting/annoying to know you are already that far and not know when you will meet your baby. But, all that work your cervix has done already is work you won't have to do later
Blessings on your birth!

The numbers mean nothing!!! When you're in labor you'll know it. Besides menstrual like cramps like you've probably never had in your life you'll probably have a nice bloody show and maybe some diarhea to boot. The biggest favor you can do for yourself is no more digital exams and keep on trusting your body.
Best wishes for a beautiful, gentle birth.

Stephanie
Two home births zero digital exams. Birthed after 42 weeks both times.

I agree with Joymum. With #2 I was 5cm and 80% for 3 weeks!

Nope, just cramps in front and back. Like they all said, it means nothing and I could be this way for weeks. Some days I think the cramps will develop into contractions, other days I feel pretty good.

Good golly! I think I'd be afraid I'd sneeze and re-enact the first scene of... that Monty Python Movie... "Myra, pick that up!"

Good luck!

LOL ging-ging! I'm so sorry! Believe me - I know how frustrating it is. I just went through 5 weeks of that with semi-regular contractions before my baby decided to show her little face on the 8th. (I was due 11/3.) I was totally convinced that she was going to just fall out - it sure felt like it!!

I'm sending you some get-that-baby-out vibes. Good luck to you! I hope your little one shows up soon!

Funny to read your post. I was just going to post myself that
I am 3.5 cm dilated and excited something might be happening,
since with my last one I was 0 right until the day. But like newmoon said it is work already done. My due date is 12/1 so
I guess it could be awhile.

I am feeling crampy too. It is just sitting around and waiting.

Good luck!!
