Baby is not moving much...

I am sort of freaking out though trying not to. I just called my OB and am waiting for a call back.

She is usually really active in the am, especially in the car on the way to work and I havent really felt much at all today.

I am so scared...

Breathe deeply

Morgan - it's going to be ok. Hang in there. Drink some ice water or cold juice or soda and lay down if you can. Try some positive visualization and know that, no matter what, we're here for you.

Keep us posted.

I agree with laying down and relaxing. Go home and try to stay busy. My thoughts are with you.

Drink some orange juice and find a place to lie down for a while. Don't do anything else - just lie there and will the baby to move.

This happened to me last week - I hadn't felt my baby move for hours at a time when she is normally active. I counted 20 kicks within half an hour - not as much as usual, but still very much there - and it reassured me.

Just got off the phone with the nurse and that is what she said to do - eat or drink and lay down and count. I am feeling tiny movements now but it still worries me because she is normally SO active - like to the point that its uncomfortable at times because she pushes out so hard.

Thanks for you support ladies!

She's running out of room!

On Sun & Mon I had the same problem. The baby was definitely moving, but just not as frequently or as strongly as usual. It could have been a million reasons- maybe I was too busy, maybe the baby was just having a couple off days, maybe it was turned slightly in towards my insides where you can't feel the movements as well as the outside....who knows? but movement is movement I think, even if it's little ones, and as long as you still get some big ones I think it's fine. Did you ever chug a glass of really cold ice water and then lay down? that always pisses my baby off....lol.

I hope everything is okay. I've noticed that her "patterns" don't seem as set as they used to. But every time I do a kick count, I easily get to 10 movements in a very short period of time (my OB told me 10 within 2 hours, and I'm usually there in less than 10 minutes). So I figure all is well. But it is disconcerting to have things change and seem unpredictable (sometimes lots of movement, sometimes not). Like a pp said, I chalk it up to her running out of room.

Let us know how things are going!

I've read that warm weather relaxes our babies and makes them a little lethargic and not so wiggly. Also, they tend to get "quiet" right before labor starts (!).
I know how scary this feels. Hope you get some good movement soon!

The same thing has happened to me. Jake's movements have really slowed down from what they used to be. HUGS! That happened with Riley and we freaked out we were almost ready to head to L&D when she finally moved.

Yep, mine has slowed way way way down this past week. It is unsettling, but he seems to be doing fine and his hb was fine at my appt today. Just getting squished I think.

Morgan, let us know how you and baby are doing. It is very frightening when they don't move as much as they used to (or at all).

I definitely agree that they are running out of room at this point and that is part of it. I'm sure this is not recommended but the few times I've been worried about this I've eaten a bit of ice cream and that gets the baby jumping around.

Thanks everyone - she is moving a bit more, still not like usual. I do understand that she is running out of room, etc. just seems like she wouldnt have grown so much overnight that she would go from moving like a maniac yesterday to not having enough room to move today. But, it could be that she had a growth spurt and is worn out and resting, who knows.

I am just paranoid. It doesnt help to read sad birth stories that dont end well I feel soooo unbelievably bad for those mamas that I get scared it could happen to us and then freak out.

Anyway - I am definitely keeping count and paying attention. My stomach is killing me since I ate - just feel like its not sitting well and I have indigestion. The last part of pregnancy is so hard - totally worth it but still so hard.

Morgan,
I had this happen during Bella's pregnancy - hardly felt anything at all around 36 weeks. I had an appt. with my midwives back up ob that day anyway, and he sent me over for an NST.

My opinion - things are probably fine, and there are probably any number of reasons why baby could be moving less, but at this stage of the game, your piece of mind is SO very important. IF hearing her heartbeat or having an NST would relieve your fears, call and ask for one right away. Worry and stress are the last thing you need!

(((((((((((((Morgan)))))))))))))))) I hope all is well! Hopefully she's just in the position where you can't feel her as much.

I have a doppler at home so that helps - though I dont use it much, havent used it in a few months actually. But this is why I wanted it - for situations like this, not just to listen any old time. I guess I should start carrying it with me :LOL

Now she is pushing a lot - maybe she just wanted to sleep in this morning It actually feels like she is trying to flip around - I dont know if she is head down anymore or not (she was at 32 weeks), if so I hope she isnt flipping!

Morgan, glad she's moving, it's scary when their patterns change. On Monday, I was having more intense BH and the babe was not moving on his normal schedule, but by the next day he was at it again... the feel of his movements has changed significantly...and I've found that any time things have changed, it's taken me a bit to adjust and feel ok that it's normal.

and I second the drink oj & rest for a bit to see if the movements pick up...or I've poked around (DH *hates* it when I do that) to see where the kiddo is, and usu. he gets annoyed and whomps on me for a while, so I get reassurance in spades

yowch, just got a big foot jab, hope one is coming your way soon!

Morgan - glad you sound better...just one bit of OJ warning...DD #1 was sooo quiet towards the end, and I'd try the OJ without any noticable difference. So, if some next time, OJ doesn't work, don't take that as a really bad sign. You may be right about the turning or whatever....maybe baby's just storing up energy for a big move!

(((hug))
