Baby seems to have changed position...

And this is NOT a good thing, because she was ideally positioned for birth before.

When I woke up yesterday morning I could barely breathe. I swear she has disengaged herself from my pelvis and has turned a bit. I can feel movement in totally different places from where it was before.

Hopefully she's NOT breech, but I am getting an awful lot of small movements at the very front of my belly, low down, which makes me think I might be feeling her hands and that she is now POSTERIOR.

Actually, I can feel a foot in my side now. YIKES! I hope she's not transverse!

Off to have a look at the spinning babies website!

This is so weird NordicMamma, I think my little peanut is doing something similar. After nearly two months of having baby very very low with lots of preasure on my cervix and none under my ribs, I've suddenly got alot of preasure on my ribs and am short of breath again like I was in month 7. I saw my midwife yesterday and she was perplexed that she was actually able to easily feel the head-it was much higher that it's been for a while like he's pulled out of my pelvis a bit. She was very reassuring though and suggested that the baby was just readjusting in preparation for the birth, perhaps she had a hand stuck up by her face that was getting uncomfortable or perhaps her head was tilted in a not ideal birth position. It feels much better to think about it this way-that baby knows what she's doing and is readjusting to make it easier for us-not harder!

But yes, spinning babies website here I come!!!

What you described sounds exactly like what happened with my baby, tons of small movements at the front of my belly and feeling kicks in my side. I hope that your baby is not transverse which is where mine is, I am going today for the version to try and turn her. Hoping that she turns on her own though by the time we get there.

Its frustrating, especially when they are in the right position and then move out of it so close to the end.

I think that my babe is sunny side up too. I felt a foot or leg in the front today...here is hoping for all of us to have face down babies and no back labor!

I think mine swings between ROA and ROT.

Right now it is stretching alot, I hope it isn't trying to turn breech or posterior. It feels like it is really getting serious in there. I don't know what it is up to.

The hard part I feel leading into my pelvis, is it the babies head (I know the head is there, but am just wondering if I feel it) or is the base of the uterus itself firm? Anyone know?

I am 100% sure now that she is posterior, and I'm still trying to turn her.

I've done so many pelvic tilts my muscles are actually aching! Someone on another site suggested lunges, but I can't do those because of my knees, and the 'knees-to-chest' position you are supposed to adopt is sooooo uncomfortable.

Oh well. I will print out all the info on turning a posterior baby in early labour, and maybe my mum will be able to help me out when the time comes (she will be staying with us from week 38 and is a physiotherapist by trade).

Yeah, my babe is posterior, too. I'm only at 36 weeks, and what with sleeping in the recliner, I figure it doesn't make much sense to try to turn her now, since she'll probably just turn back.

I've been noticing, however, that she's not a big mover. Not that she doesn't move -- she moves all the time. But she just wiggles her arms and legs ... she doesn't move into different positions. I suppose this is a good thing in some respects, since she's currently head-down, and hopefully she'll stay that way. But it seems like it will definitely work against me when I start trying to turn her from posterior. I can't blame her for settling into that position, though, since I sleep in the recliner, recline in my office chair, etc. Leaning back is usually the most comfortable for me, and the best way to cope with my back pain. So it makes sense that she would pick that spot. Still sucks, though ...

These are the tools I'm starting to gather for when I start trying to turn her:

* hands and knees (doesn't do anything now, though, so I'm not hopeful)
* spinning babies website (haven't looked at it a lot, but I know they have suggestions)
* chiropracter (will probably start going next week)
* acupuncture
* pulsatilla (sp?) -- monitrice recommends for turning baby, and was subject of a recent thread on the general pg board

I'm hoping that some combination of these things will get her to turn!!!! And if not, well, back labor it is. What else can I do ?

I have no clue what my baby is doing anymore.

For the longest time it was ROA. Then a couple night ago I went- wait, why am I feeling movement on my right side when I haven't in at least a month??

Now the movements are everywhere. up, down, both sides, in my cervix, etc etc. I'll see what my m/w says on Fri I guess.

You know what is ironic? Last time I did everything wrong - reclined in the chair, sat with my legs up all the time, etc., and ds was anterior, born with relatively little pain.

This time around I followed all the advice on preventing a posterior baby and she STILL turns out that way. I should have just left well enough alone.

At 37 weeks my baby is currently ROT.

At least he is head down. Looks like will turn posterior, from what I have read and what the midwives say. My first was posterior....it was a long and difficult labor but we had a vaginal birth with no epidural. I tore pretty badly, but that didn't seem like such a big deal.

I hope this time is easier!
