Did you do this? (or are you doing this?)

I've noticed in the past week or so I'm setting silly "deadlines" for myself in regards to when the baby comes.

Examples:

"By the time I finish up this bar of soap, I will have a baby" (soap broke in half yesterday and I had to open another bar and felt like I missed some "deadline")

"I have to have the baby before I run out of these Tums because I don't want to buy another whole package that I won't need after baby is born." (I have 8 Tums left...tick tick tick..)

"Ok, now I've cleaned the whole house, laundry is caught up, everything in order...now would be a GREAT time for labor to start." (labor doesn't start, days go by and I realize I have to start cleaning process yet again)

Anyone else?

Pepper, Idid that, but in reverse.

"I still have a week to get all that laundry done."

"I still have time to paint the nursery."

"I better go get some EPO to get my cervix ready, so I don't go too far post dates"

I was so SURE I was going to go late; and she came a week early :LOL

I 've been doing some similar stuff... mine went "honey, I will finish this brand new gallon of vanilla ice cream before the baby comes." His eyes got big 'cause that's alot of ice cream even if I go two weeks over due! :LOL

Ditto SA. That's why my sheets and towels weren't ready and my hospital bag wasn't packed. 1st time moms never go early!

Guilt guilt guilt

Oh Pepper! I feel so guilty. We had the same due date, and I just finished nursing my little girl. Here is some cervix ripening, contraction prompting, water breaking fairy dust:

Come on, baby!

I did this too. There are still a few things that I didn't do that I thought HAD to be done or else she wouldn't be here just because I'm that superstitious if that's the right word.
Of course the one day that I take out the stuff in the dryer and pile it on top (hiding the ammonia and stuff the midwife would need), is the day I go into labor.
So leaving things undone may work!
The night my water broke though, even though I'd thought I'd felt this way before, I felt like the world was different. There was that huge orange moon and we had a great night as a family (we had many nights in succession where we ended up screaming at each other), and as I walked up the steps I felt this feeling of calm and my brain said "baby, if you want to come tonight it's alright". Remember now, I hadn't talked to the baby at ALL, even in my head really. This was an automatic psychic thought.
So now everyone who's still pregnant is going to be listening for this thought and wonder if it's self made or real lol!!!!
Oy there's some girl at my door and I'm not wearing pants. I'm not answering it. I should probably put something on the door about just having had a baby, but I don't want creeps trying to see that either, kwim?
And ouch my boobs. Also on Tuesday coming into the house I had this fleeting thought of "Enjoy not wearing pads in your bra and in your pants at the same time for six weeks Karen".
Listen for that one too heh!!!

:LOL Yes, I bought something at the grocery store with an expiration date after my due date and though "by the time this expires I will have a baby."

Problem solved! I just got finished painting my toenails. Clearly, baby was waiting for my toes to look nice. Ok, birth announcement, here we come!

Pepper I've been doing this too! mostly with cleaning stuff. ill put away all the clean laundry and clean up the room my mw is going to be hanging out in and think to myself, now is the perfect time for the baby to come... and just like you said, three days later ill be doing the same thing :LOL or ill make plans, to go somewhere or have someone over and think, of course the baby will come now since i have plans....

Pepper and SA - I did both! I bought a tiny roll of tums thinking, this is all I will need...but I ran out before dd was born! I was 5 days after my latest due date and went 42 weeks with dd1, so my bargaining was way in the future, like when Willy Wonka comes out, I will have my baby already...I will have the baby before the 4th of July...these were pretty obvious since I was "due" June 1st!

I took a mad notion to break down the dry skin on my heels and when I started made the stupid mistake of saying to myself, by the time I get rid of all this dry skin, he'll be ready to be born. I gave up on that about two weeks ago and baby still isn't here. Now I am eyeing my feet thinking do I have to get the pumice going again to get this kid out???

Ohhhh yeah! I keep getting sort of annoyed and confused when the house doesn't somehow go into a state of suspended animation once it's clean. I keep getting caught up on everything and visualizing having the baby when the house is just that way. And then days go by.

I've actually been avoiding this section- it was feeling like EVERYBODY from June had had their babies, and it was bumming me out, even knowing not to really expect a baby myself until July... glad to see your familiar faces still here. Selfishly.

My "deadline" thing: I'm totally hooked on Peppermint Patty Klondike bars right now. I keep being puzzled when they run out.

Pepper- you can paint your toenails still? I'm so proud when I manage to just cut them, and I'm not even feeling very big! Kudos to you!

Yeah, it was quite a feat (heh heh). It was an act of pure defiance. I said, no matter how big I am, I am painting these toenails! The two smallest toes on each foot were done by feel only but came out good enough

I ran out of Tums last night. Damn deadlines.
