Has anyone else read The Bean Trees? I liked it as well, though it was very very sad.
Turtle's life history definitely breaks your heart. But as a whole, I thought the book was very funny, wise, and entertaining. Those early Kingsolver books (including Pigs in Heaven) made me laugh a lot, for which I cherish them.

My dad mailed me pigs in heaven, and so from there I read all of her books, including the short stories and essays. The last I read was Poisonwood Bible.

I really like her and wish there were more books to read!

I LOVED the Bean Trees....but honesty, I don't know if I could handle reading it now that I'm a mother. I do remember the ending being happy though, right?

I read Prodigal Summer last summer and was blown away. The way she went into such detail about nature was so cool- it felt like I WAS in the woods.... yes, one of my fav books for sure.
