Liam Conor Is Here!! - update 7/24 by MoD

Hi there ladies! I've been MIA for awhile now. Liam is doing well, as are my other children. Unfortunately, my c-section didn't go so terribly well. Because Liam was large and I had some previous abdominal surgery, the ob had to do an extra long incision - 27 staples to close it up. When I first got home, recovery was rough, but my other half took 2 weeks off to help me out. Thankfully nursing was going well, and dh doesn't mind washing diapers LOL. Dustin and Dorothy were in a good routine with me and the new baby. So, then is when it started to get bad....my incision got infected. At first, dh was able to flush it out and cover it and i was taking antibiotics, but by 2 weeks 6 days postpartum, the ob wasn't really pleased with how it was healing, so she had to cut a bunch of dead tissue out, pack it, and home health had to get involved. This wednesday, I went in for a check, and it wasn't sufficiently under control, so I was admitted to the hospital again. This time, it was for surgery - debridation of the *wound*. The surgeon was wonderful, and I had to be on IV antibiotics for a few days. I was discharged yesterday afternoon with a large wound that my dh has to care for a couple times a day. This wednesday they may be able to suture it closed...we'll see...it has to heal from the inside out. I got a private room at the hospital, so Liam was able to stay with me, continue nursing, etc. The only concession I made was going to disposies for a few days so we wouldn't have so much laundry when I got home.

It's really hard to believe that here I am, almost a month postpartum and still trying to recover. It is very frustrating, and i'm ready to return to normal. I've missed my little ones terribly because they couldn't stay at the hospital with me and they are at their dad's this weekend. To allow me to recover, the best thing is for them to not be around because I can't really rest AND take care of them, so my step mom and MIL will be helping me out tomorrow afternoon and Tuesday, then my mom is taking them for a few days. Until I get well, I'm not going to be online much because my PC is downstairs, and I only can do steps once a day.

I have enjoyed reading about all of the new babies here, and you are all in my thoughts. I look forward to returning to some sense of normalcy soon, and being able to catch up on all of you.

BTW - here is the link to Liam's birth pics and a cute one of him with Dust and Dot. http://www.growingfamily.com/webnurs...LID=4Q6M3B3V3O

Hi! I'm MilkOnDemand's (what a funny screen name) DH. She asked that I make a post here.

I'm quite proud to announce that Liam was born at 10:09 AM Tuesday June 28, 2005. He weighs 9lbs-9oz and is 20.5 inches. He is probably the healthiest looking newborn I've ever seen. Mother and son are doing very well!!! We are euphoric about the new addition to our family.

Mom is resting comfortably (well sedated) and baby is nursing like a pro. I will post pics tomorrow. Thanks for your warm wishes.

John
