finding time to pump

I know many of you are SAHM's, but I'm planning on going back to work in August. DH is a SAHD. I'm trying to get some milk stored as well as offering Clarie a bottle every other day.

Any one else struggling to find time to pump? When are you fitting it in??

Just curious.

I started pumping last night. I use an Avent Isis, and I pump on one side while he nurses on the other. Easy let down, I get more milk faster, and it works out well

I haven't started pupming yet, but I need to start soon. With my other son I used to pump after his first morning feeding. That's probably what I'll do this time too.

I started a few days ago and I pump after her morning feeding right now. I may pick up in the afternoon as well when it get's closer to me going back to work.

I went back to work after ds#1 and was never able to pump significant quantities of milk before I actually went to work. It wasn't ideal, and we did use the odd bottle of formula (like when I left the milk at work over the weekend!), but it wasn't the end of the world either. Good luck!

I have a hospital grade ameda hollister purely yours pump, and it does good if
I nurse him on one side. I also have the Avent pump, but haven't tried it with this baby. it was ok w/ dd.

sorry, nak

i also pump in the am, and i hasve other reasons to pump.

i have a severely allergic dd who needs my milk. I have been waiting for birth so my milk would come back. She weaned herself as soon as I got pg. She is almost two.

i gave her her 2nd sippy cup of my milk and she said

It was gratifying!

How much are you getting when you pump?

I was shocked at when I started pumping! I started probably two days after she was born but it was due to engorgement issues. Even when engorged I can't get more than an ounce or once and a half out of each breast.
For a couple of days I was pumping instead of nursing on the right side so I could heal a sore. So what I'd do is pump after each nursing or at least every other nursing.
Interestingly enough (I say that a lot don't I!?) she was really really hungry tonight and the left boob wasn't cutting it. I had to break out right boob and I was so nervous when she latched--and it didn't hurt at all. A huge difference from two days ago when I was almost kicking and screaming with each latch. It's amazing the difference a couple of days makes when you are just starting to nurse for the first time, or the first time in a while.
So anyhow to answer your question, I'm pumping after most feedings, don't get too much, but already have 6 bags in the freezer.
Didn't I learn some place that you're not supposed to add milk to a bag? I've been doing this anyway... I can't see only having an once or two in each bag. Then again I hate to waste!
Take care moms,
Karen

When I was super engorged and pumping after every feeding (I was supplementing with EBM) I could get 3-4 oz from each breast. I usually pump after the morning feeding and get 1-2 oz from each breast. If I pump other times during the day I'm lucky to get an oz from each breast.

For some reason, my left side is bigger and has always been the champion producer! When I woke this am, it was pouring milk. I got three ounces out of it, and would probably have gotten four if it hadn't all sprayed me and the baby and the living room :LOL I was a mess, but i sort of just stay on one side part of the night, and then switch around around 3 am. It keeps me from having to adjust him or me every three hours or so... If I were to pump both breasts at a feeding without nursing him, I probably could gett 5 or 6 oz.
