Charting, Trying, Hoping TO AVOID. July 2005 - Page 3

Hi. I am going to pick up a copy of TCOYF at the library or the bookstore and find out more about how TTA works. We currently are using condoms and they are just a pain - too much interference. I don't want to use hormones and I'm not too hot on an IUD either.

I did do charting (mucous was the only thing I did very effectively since I never slept well at night) when we were TTC and that worked.

I have a question though - and maybe this is covered in the book, but when I am ovulating I get insanely shall we say.....amourous. How do you go against your instincts when using NFP to TTA? My last ovulation time, the sexual excitability AND the babylust were going big time. My body really seemed to want to get pregnant. It's like my brain shut off completely until 2 days after my period started. :

I am not even sure if I want another baby. DH does, but not until DD is 4-5. I think 5 would be a good spacing if I did have another baby, but this past cycle I was totally ready to be preggers and was thinking maybe 3 years.....maybe NOW?

Aack. Anyway, hopefully, reading the book will help. And if anyone has any suggestions for someone with little to no will-power, please let me know. Hope to start posting here more soon.

Many of us (most of us?) have noticed this. I personally deal with it by being honest with Mike, who has that rare quality known as self control. :LOL We do not have intercourse at all while we are fertile, but it's only because Mike is able to keep the idea of a baby in his head, even as my hormones are making both of us insane. :LOL

Can I come join you guys too? I just started charting last month and now am on CD1 of chart #2. We are CTA until we start TTC in October or November. I got my IUD out last week (yipee!), so it is for real - both the TTC part and the need to CTA until then! :LOL Gotta run but I look forward to chatting with you all.

We still have sex when I'm fertile, but use condoms during these times. Usually works out to about half my cycle, as I get really long spells of fertile CM. Had one this time around, in fact. My body finally got around to ovulating on CD20, I think. Which makes just one more egg that needs to be avoided! Wheee!!!

Something strange happened this morning. I know that I already ovulated, had a slight dip in temperature and ovulation pain and everything, but this morning my temperature was a record low of 93.0. What on Earth could have caused such a thing? If I wasn't 99% certain that I've already ovulated, I'd be very worried right now...

did you sleep with your mouth open? was your room cold? could it just be a "fallback" temp from an estrogen serge? not sure what would make your temp be that low. i know it was not unusual for me to have a one day dip at 2-4dpo when i used to chart temps. hope it's back up tomorrow!

Neither; the room was the same temp it's been all week, and I know my mouth was closed while I slept and when I took my temperature (because I was awake for a change). I just changed the battery last Friday, so that's not it. It was just a really strange drop. Could someone who has a copy of TCOYF look it up, please?

eilonwy, how many DPO was this 93.0? And has the new battery taken normal post-O temps for you?

My chart has been more scattered this month, but I had ovulation pain and a ton of mucous on cd 11, and was very confident that I O'd late on day 11/early on day 12. I'm clueless now, though. My chart's a freaking mess.

The temperatures have been accurate, though; that is, when I use two different thermometers, I get the same numbers.

wow, that is a crazy chart! i wonder if you just geared up to O at CD11, but then never O'd? with your temps staying low and the fact that you are still having ewcm i'd continue to tta if i were you. as for the 93, no ideas for you.

since i'm posting, it's cd1 for me, again. (twice on this thread :LOL)

drop

I hope not. :sheepish: That'd put me in the 2ww instead of tta. I'm remaining optimistic, though. I'm pretty sure things went as I originally figured them, I was just absolutely floored by that 93.0. I seem to remember Megan saying that she only once got a coverline from Fertility Friend, so I'm not going to worry about it at this point. Now, if I haven't gotten my period by CD 30, that's a different story.

This is where charting to avoid becomes difficult. I would never consciously do anything to sabotage my chart, but I desperately want to have another baby now and I'm concerned that I may have unconsciously sabotaged it. I'll feel horribly guilty if I'm pregnant.

well, hopefully if you haven't already O'd then you won't O in the next few days. perhaps just be careful from here on out until you CM dries up and/or your temps reflect O'ing? i so hear you about tta being hard, especially when you really want another baby. i hope af comes as scheduled.

eilonwy, that *is* a wacky chart. I would 'discard' the 93.0. It's completely inconsistent with your other temps.

Taking over from where Evergreen left off, I think I will start an August thread this afternoon, unless anyone has any objections...
good luck ttc!

I have an objection about the August thread

but only because it's not there yet. :P This will be my first real month with no hormonal birth control except FAM and I need an August board to post my questions on. LOL.
If there's no thread started by Friday evening, I'll start it then. I'll even link everything up.
I'm still here and waiting for an August thread too. Didn't want to step on anyone's toes though... I don't have much to report anyway! :LOL

So... any sign of an August thread yet? :

"Update" from me. I had checked out TCOYF revised from the library while I loaned my first edition out to a friend (who ended up not having time to read it unfortunately). Now I've turned in the book to the library and got my book back. So I'm "ready" for when my pill-period starts on Tuesday.

Although I can hardly call it a 'period' at all... I can seriously use a single pantiliner on each day and barely even need that. I'm sure some people have spotted heavier than my current 'periods' are. :LOL But anyway... should I just go ahead and use that as cycle day 1 just so I have somewhere to start?

Thanks,
Andrea

P.S. - if someone starts an August thread before I get any replies, will they pretty please copy my post to the new thread? Thanks a million.
