Can I just vent...

...about stupid comments made regarding circ!

Today on a bboard I'm on someone actually said they circ because "they want their penises to look pretty". Ugh! So if you're baby has an ugly nose you're going to have it "fixed" when they're hours old with inadequate pain relief?

That was just the stupidest reason I've ever heard.

Thanks for listening!

If anyone else has any they want to vent about, feel free!

Pretty revolting really....

Well, maybe they should leave them alone.

I think a circumcised penis looks just creepy and all wrong on a baby - probably because for me (and everyone else raised where the men are all intact) exposed glans = aroused man.

How can anything that's bruised, injured and scarred be pretty??

It's all very offensive to me. When they say these things they are really talking about me and my body even though they put it in context of their child. If they say that they have this "right" then they are saying all persons have the right to alter someone else's genitals.

They are saying that they have a right to insert themselves into my marital bedroom far into the future and to allow me to only have the kind of woman they want me to have, that is one that views the scarred genitals as preferable. They are saying that I have no right to my own body. They are saying that they don't want me to have access to a woman who is intelligent and understands the superior design of the human body. It makes it very difficult for me to assess whether a woman would accept me for my normal body or wants this modification for herself. Here in the States, women automatically assume a man is circumcised. Should I lie to them and tell them I have not been circumcised to see what their reaction is? Do I have to go to that extreme to see what the true character of the woman is? I certainly would not have any interest in such a shallow woman.

Do they have the only say in determining what my penis looks like and how it works. In practice, they do because this is a theft from the man when he has no defenses and because it is condoned by our society. The reality is that it is nothing more than a theft and a theft of the most invasive and most damaging kind. If someone breaks into your house or steals your car, the insurance company will replace your household goods or your car so that you are put back closely to normal and are reimbursed for your losses. The sense of vulnerability and invasion are still there and will color your perceptions from then on. When a part of a man's genitals are stolen, there is no recompense, no replacement of the purloined goods. There is no thief to be caught and punished so no satisfaction. There is no rapist to take the guilt. I believe that circumcision is very much like a rape in that it is an invasion and violation of the most intimate and personal part of a man's body.

I could go on and on, but I won't!

Frank, I believe you just articulated what many men wish they could. I really wish many of the parents considering circumcision could read that post. I'm sure you've made countless others like it, but as I'm fairly new here, this is the first I've seen written in that way.

I was just thinking the same thing. I'm getting ready to put together some links and information for a friend who is pregnant and I was wishing she could read that.

That woman should go to http://www.circumstitions.com and see their gallery of intact men. The intact penis, IMO, is better looking than the circ'ed one!
