Girl!

Here are pics I snapped with my webcam - will hae to do until i get it scanned (the ultrasound is surprisingly clear, you can easily see the profile and in the photo I have you can see each individual finger- way better than my daughter's were 8 years ago)

The tech said is about 30 centimeters long and looks to be just under a pound.

Wait a sec... how can the baby measure at 30 centimeters if I am 20 weeks???? It's what she said... 30 centimeters and about a pound... that would put me at about 23 weeks, yes? Or maybe not... I guess at this stage ultrasound can be off in judging how far along you are by 10 +/- days...

Congrats! ANother little girl!

Well, I have The Pregnancy Book by Sears and it says for 17-20 weeks (8-10 inches and .75-1 lb *from memory, so i may be off a bit) and for 20-23 weeks (10-12 inches and 1-1.25 lbs)

So you sound right in that range.

We didn't get a total length- the current weight guesstimate is 402g- thats 14 oz, I think, which seems about right. Seeing as the only way of knowing for certain is to take it out and have a look, I'm happy not knowing. 50th centile for everything else, 95th centile for abdominal circumference, so takes after his/her mummy. For the curious, we weren't told what it is, but I spotted, told Steve and the sonographer was nodding- so I'm about 98% sure I'm right.
I'm having aboy

I thought I saw a white bit of font! I had somewhat wanted a boy because we decided to only have 2 kids, and I thought one of each would be nifty, but I really LOVE girls and Emma wants a kid sister so bad. My husband also really really wanted a girl. Oh little girls are so fun to dress.... plus, extra bonus is I saved all of Emma's super nice clothes from Gymboree and the Gap

I wanted to know simply so I know what clothes to buy and how to plan. But part of me realizes how it must feel to hear the sex of the baby right after it's born.

My husband is adorable. He showed everybody at work the ultrasound... and last night he had his best friend over to celebrate. We sat up until 2:30 am talking about being parents (his best friend is a new dad.) I think today's ultrasound was a really big moment for my husband.
