I gave my brother that same argument - implants to make little girls look like their mommies, more desirable, more "normal" (we live in Los Angeles :LOL ), etc. He said, "Now you're just being ridiculous! That's cosmetic surgery. That's not natural, and nobody likes fake boobs."

Some people just aren't willing to see how strikingly similar FGM is to MGM. They view FGM as backwards and barbaric, but because MGM has been the norm, it's ok and sickeningly almost "natural" to them. To me, such people reek of stupidity and ignorance and an unwillingness to go beyond their comfort zone even if it's for the sake of their own child.
