going on the grid... need advise

Thread Starter
after years of living off the grid we are getting power. Kinda backwards for this forum, but here is my question.... what type of things that run on electricty should I really be putting on my 'wish' list...
So far this is what I have came up with:

Lights
Washer
Sewing Machine
Bread Machine
Fan
some sort of blender/mixer/food processor (any suggestions??), I want to be able to make smooth humus, chop onions and such for salsa, mix a cake

Any other suggestions???? What electrical appliances do you have that you just can't live without?

What do you do for refrigeration? I would put a deep freeze on there, just because I like to store some things that way.

For blender... alll I use is an immersion blender. They're very inexpensive and they do EVERYTHING. I use an Oster.

Can I ask why you're going back on grid? I am velly curious!

I love my toaster oven. I am pining for an electric tea kettle (it takes more power to heat it on the stove than to use an electric one and this thing could also replace my coffee pot (I prefere french press) and most of what I use my microwave for. I use my dehydrator and electric mixer and blender a lot (mixer is a basic awsome kitchen aide stand mixer). a good source of music. Thats about all we have electric that isn't on your list. fridge and deep freeze. Don't know what I would do with all the veggies from my garden without a deep freeze. It is full of zuccini bread, pumpkin bread, banana bread (anyone want some quick bread?) and when apple time comes it wil be full of apple this and that. my iron. I am leanring to love it. :LOL especially the more i sew. oh and my computer.

My fridge is currently out of commisson (see my post). but I am not missing it tremendously.

I like the coffee maker for having hot water on hand.

I never used my bread machine, just the oven. In the next house we will have a toaster oven instead of a microwave.

A blender/food processor is helpful but a hand chopper might work, too.

I do use the laptop a lot!

As someone who is trying to go more close to off-the-gird, I am interested to know why you are making the transition back on. Care to share? Understand if it's personal, though.
