Lily Josephine was born July 5 at 3:00 am sharp.
She is lovely, 9 lbs even, 20.5 inches long, a bit of dark soft baby hair.
Birth was pretty much a nightmare - placental abruption, tons of blood, ambulance ride, c/s under general anesthesia. We are recovering well though and thank God she was not compromised by the abruption - Apgars 7 and 9.

Congrats! I'm so sorry about how difficult and frightening your birth must have been, but so happy that it all ended up with a happy and healthy baby. Please let us know if there is anything we can do to help you process the birth experience, or any other support you need.

Oh my goodness, Cassidy! I had not noticed when I posted earlier that you were from Indianapolis. When I posted, I was just about ready to get in the car to go to my prenatal with.... Brandi and Wantina! As I was asking about their week (I knew they had been busy), Brandi was telling me about Lily's birth and how beautiful she is, and that her name was Lily Josephine and that it was Tuesday early morning, I knew it couldn't be a coincidence. Then I said, was it 3 a.m.? Was she 9 pounds? Are her parents Cassidy and Eric??? YEP!

What a coincidence!! Did you know that MDC user cachet who birthed Lily Jane on July 2 also had B&W as MWs?

So after hearing more of the details, I am sooo very sorry that it was not at all the birth you had wanted. But I'm so thankful that everything turned out OK in the end and that she is a healthy happy little girl. Brandi was singing her praises (and yours).

Cassidy, I'm so sorry that your birth experience was so traumatic

But I'm so glad Lily arrived safe and sound and is okay. Lots of Lilys I see ... we're thinking of that name too, so I think it's beautiful!!

Congratulations!

Congratulations

Enjoy your beautiful daughter, and give yourself lots and lots of time to come to terms with the birth. My first was an emergency c-section, and what got me through the birth and the memory of the birth was my overwhelming love for my son and gratitude that he was with me whole and without any birth damage. Also, take comfort in the VBAC option for the future. I've had two, and they go a long way toward healing any previous disappointments. Hugs to you!

Hi,

Congratulations on receiving your new little one. ((hugs)) I read your story on the ICAN list. You are such a strong mama; I can't imagine how scary that must have been. You took such good care of yourself prenatelly..did everything you could to prepare..but birth is sometimes unpredictable. I was talking to dh about it and how scared I would have been and how strong you had to be, etc. and that I was thankful that you guys were home able to love each other (even though I don't know you, etc.). I am also an Indiana mama. I know W & B..used to be in study group with them when I lived in northern Indiana..we are getting ready to move back north again in a few months possibly..but anyways.. your story really touched my heart and so I wanted to post and say that..and also, it helped me to see that sometimes we can do everything "right" and still have the unexpected occur..that I cant control the outcome of things and that I can let go and let God...anyways..I will stop rambling ((hugs again))

Thanks for all your thoughts and congrats. How funny that so many of you know our midwives! They are wonderful sweet women. I surely would have preferred to birth with them at home but they came and gave us great support while all was going on.
I still feel really traumatized...like hit by a train. But I do have a beautiful girl to console me and I'm sure it will take time to heal. Lily was a planned HBAC. Maybe next time.
