Hi everyone. I've made 4 posts on the mothering dot com message boards and found everyone so helpful. And of course I've also read practially millions of posts in the archives and some of the older threads. :LOL
Anyway, now that I got around to making a signature, I'm popping in with an "official" introduction. I'm 27 now but have been thinking about/researching/planning for children and pregnancy since I was about 18. (Anyone remember Moms Online from AOL? Then there was also the non-AOL version Momsonline.com? That was my first introduction to the online parenting/birth/motherhood community.) It was there that I first heard about cloth diapering and extended breastfeeding. Things that seemed novel and at the time felt like somthing I wouldn't do. But 9 years of research and reading changes one's mind on a lot of things. :LOL
Homebirth is another one of those things. I had wanted to homebirth probably for about 5 years, but the X that I was with at the time would NOT have been on board with it. (Once when we were talking about future children he was like, "You're going to have a C-section, right?" as in a planned unneccesary C-section. I'm so grateful ever day that I ended up NOT having DC's with him.) He also wouldn't have been on board with NIP. But surprisingly he may have been supportive of cloth diapering. But only b/c he was CDed as a child.
DH and I moved to Missouri less than 2 months ago. He got a promotion and wants to start TTC right now, but knows that we need to wait a bit. We both want me to be a SAHM, but with the debt we have right now it's not possible. We will probably start TTCing this witner though, then a due date will hopefully line right up with the last month of credit payments and I can stay home.
But I am very glad to have found this community and know that it will help me a lot through the next several years and beyond.
