sucky annoying day

It's only 11:25 am and I already wish today was over.

Ely must be going through a growth spurt because all he wants to do is nurse. Of course his stomach is beyond full because of it, so he's spitting up A LOT. So far he's spit up all over me, in the sling twice, all over his newly bathed self, all over the carpet and floor in his room, and I'm sure I'll be adding to the list. He napped in the sling for a while, but now that needs to be cleaned so I have to figure out a new nap solution.

It's also pouring rain outside which is a good thing, but the dog is driving me crazy. He's been whining for the past 4 hours about going outside, but when you open the door he won't go because he hates the rain. I'm sure this is going to continue for the rest of the day.

We'll see if I have any hair left when DH gets home...

I'm trying to figure out how to deal with my dog too, Jennie. He wants to go outside and "play" with the groundhog family that lives in our yard and eats my weeds. He's being very vocal about his desires, which is not conducive to a month old infant napping. Dumb dog.

Anyone ever used gentle discipline on an animal? I'm running out of GD ideas and am quickly degenerating into thoughts of sending my baxter to a dog food factory where he'll be changed to delicious nutritious kibble for his brethren dogs. :LOL

Ely is asleep, swaddled in his swing with the radio playing loud static, and Blue is napping on the floor with his bone. A short lived bliss I'm sure.

SA - We used GD/Positive Reinforcement to train our dog. When he did a behavior that was against the dog rules of the house, we told him "too bad" and he went into time out for a few minutes. You only have to do this a few times before he stops the behavior - it's pretty cool. There is a lot more to it than what I've explained. I'll find a link on the web for you.

I can't find the instructions. They must not be on the net anymore. I'll get DH to scan the paper ones and I'll email them to you.

Oy. I hear ya. Ds is grumpy in the am's and wants to nurse, but OMG if he gets too full, he will cry even harder. I'll be glad when he's big enough to nurse on both sides and just burp and go on with his day! Heis asleep on the bed, still in the sling! Dd has been asleep for a while...

No errands for me, Hurricane Dennis has been here!!

bama, how are you guys doing? how badly did you get hit?

Jennie, we DO that. He is a hardheaded pain in the butt, my dog. We stick him in his "penalty box" for undesirable behavior, such as jumping on teh window and barking to let the groundhogs know that's HIS yard :LOL He gets a warning, "Baxter, stop, bad" and if he persists (and he always does), we tell him "go to bed" and he usually goes right into his crate. We shut the door and he sits there for a couple minutes. Not more than two, because we want him to remember why he's there in the first place, you know? Lately though, he's not even responding to the Bed command; which is SO weird for him. Really. I'm sure that a lot of it is him trying to adjust to having a new member of the family and trying to establish his spot in the "pack".

Dumb dog. :LOL He's lucky he's so darn cute.

Anyhoo....anyone want to hear me complain about my pharmacy, since we're all having one of those days? We have a touch of thrush (Ped diagnosed it this morning, Jennie. She's started to not want to nurse and to flail about at the breast. Classic signs, so I'm told. So we figured better be safe than sorry and treat it. BFing is hard enough without trying to deal with thrush :LOL) So, MD gives me the script for the drops for her and the ointment for me. Good.

Joey's covered under my insurance for the first 31 days of her life, automatically; no paperwork required. The pharmacy won't fill our scripts because "Aetna's not showing her in the computer". Well, of course they wouldn't. They don't "know" she's even here. So, at first, I ask how much the meds will be, and it's not a sick amount of money, so I said Okay, I'll just pay out of pocket, but then I thought better of that and called my insurance.

They said for the pharmacy to put it in under her first name and my dob. Called the pharmacy and told them that. The chick tells me that she can't do that; that's insurance fraud. HOW IS IT INSURANCE FRAUD IF THAT'S WHAT MY INSURANCE CO. IS TELLING YOU TO DO???

So, I told her to call my insurance company and work it out. And now, I have to go back and pick up these scripts. And if there are any issues, I'm going to tell my dog the pharmacist is a groundhog and let him have at. Grrrrrr. :LOL

Dogs make so sense. Blue has slept in our bedroom since we brought him home at 8 weeks, but the other night he left our room and went to the living room to sleep on the futon. I think he's trying to tell us he's mad that we kicked him out of our bed, which I do feel horrible and guilty about though I love my hair-free sheets. I did let him hang out on our bed for 30 minutes while I nursed Ely last night, and he was so happy then slept on his bed for the rest of the night.

Sorry about the thrush www.kellymom.com has a lot of info on treating thrush. I read through it all back when I thought I had thrush. Hopefully it goes away soon.

I feel your pain about the pharmacy and the insurance co. I've been dealing with that bs too because I'm between doses of my thyroid meds and have to alternate two doses, and they have to be treated as two different prescriptions even though they basically act as one which means I'm paying more than my copay for a months worth of pill. The day I tried to fix this mess, some other pharmacist butted in and accused me of trying to commit fraud when all I was trying to do was get my stupid prescription insurance that I pay for to actually work. I'm going to end my rant before I get angry about it again.

We are fine, downed limbs and annoying power outages for a few hrs. No serious flooding.

Schuyler doesnt even have a birth cert yet, alabama doesn't allow homebirths anymore so the folks dont even know where the papers are anymore to fill out. Lovely.

and he doesnt have amiddle name yet either :

Man, we have flooding out the wazoo here..... i'm tired of dealing with hurricane aftermath when i don't have the beach near me!!!!!! and to top it off, we were almost hit on the interstate yesterday by a car that spun out of control. i swear it missed us by maybe a foot. i got to the next exit and broke down in tears b/c i wasn;t sure that i had the carseat tight enough (i had screwed up the straps somehow) and was just trying to get out of the pay parking i was in until i could make sure it was perfect. i freaked out totally because of "what if..." . All i know is that her late great-aunt and great-granny were guiding that other car away from us. if i had been only slightly father back...........

nursing is still slow going and there is WAAAAAY more formula than i would like..... she didn't sleep well at all last night and i'm about to go wake her so we don't have a repeat. i need sleep....

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spent the whole flippin day on the phone trying to get our kid a birth certificate. No one seems to know what to do, and the officials in the state capital , well, some of them barely seem to understand English, much less speak it.

We have to provide documentation of all sorts of things, some of which we don't have. It is really rough.

Going to interview a dr down the road to see if he works for us....but can't do that till July 22, and then have to have a well baby check for us to get a letter saying a Dr has seen him alive. Oh joy.

Sara, keep up the good work!
