GD while very sick

I'd like some advice on gentle disciplining for my 3 yr old. She's a very spirited little girl. She's well-behaved, but, well, she's 3.

How do you all go about with gentle discipline while sick? This past week I've had an inner ear infection, a sinus infection, and a UTI, some days barely able to stand up. All of these infections have also caused my blood pressure (which is high on a normal day) to go WAY out of control (I've wound up in the ER once, and in my doctor's office twice).

My husband has been good about taking over when he's here, but when I'm the only adult around and I'm so sick I can barely stand up, I find I'm doing a lot of deep breathing (interesting with an inner ear infection, let me tell you!), counting, change of scenery, etc. But I'm running out of ideas, and some of my child's games and books are getting old and tired to her! I'm getting better, so it's probably under control now, but I need to add to my "gentle discipline arsenal" (how's that for an oxymoron) in case I have a setback or in case I get this sick again.

I have no idea, but I hope you feel better soon.

when I am very sick I get a stack of movies.

when I am that sick I get a sitter.

In both case we are sorta on a if you don't wake mom with screaming, sirens or by bleeding on me your free to go crazy so long as you do it quietly. Mine are old enough to entertain each other but when I had one it was new toys, new videos, special snacks, whatever it took to keep her busy and happy. and like I said if it wasn't the end of the world I would chock it up to poor supervision and accept that when I was better we could deal with breaking any bad habits learned while my head was buried in the toilet or under a blanket.

i'm lucky enough to have very AP in laws so when i'm sick (like yesterday) my MIL will watch the baby for me. (he's 20 months)

when dh got home and brought the baby he helped out a lot and ds did watch a couple movies and sat on dh's lap while he played video games. a lot of stuff that i don't usually let him do. if the kids are all OK it would be a good time to ask someone else with kids to watch them for a few hours in a playdate sort of way while you get a nap in.

i really hope this helps. Honestly i don't know what i would do without my mother in law, she is the awesomest.
