I just read a phenomenal article by Jini Patel Thompson that was published in the Australian magazine Byronchild and forwarded to me in the NVIC e-newsletter (www.nvic.org). The author started out doing some research about vaccinations when she had her baby. The specific questions/topics she discusses are:
"effectiveness, adverse effects,
and long-term consequences. The unspoken thread running
through each of these is a pressing question: Why haven’t more people been
informed of this evidence, and indeed, why is vaccination
presented carte blanche as a positive, imperative requisite for
our children’s health?"
I cannot link to the article through the Byronchild website and I can't link to it through the NVIC site but feel free to email me if you'd like to read it. My daughter has had some vaccinations and I continue to struggle with this issue b/c of the state regulations that we'll face when she goes to public school. So, for those of you out there still searching for answers, I think that this article is a great reinforcement that we need to educate ourselves about these issues and not just do what the government and sometimes our physicians say is 'best'.
