Oooooo ~the Ring~ Ooooooooo - Page 2

My husband and I just watched the Ring last night. It creeped me out , which isn't really hard to do. CHildren make such good evil beings in movies. I think the Morgans did do something super natural do hve Samara , I did notice the 66 conceptions and 65 miscarriage thing in the files as well.
I think they kept her in the barn because she was evil and they knew it. That's why the mom killed her , she felt she had no choice. Samara said on the tape ,of her in the mental institution, that she wants to hurt people and it will never stop. I think they left out way to much detail.

ok. just has to come outta lurkdom to give my theory on how the tape got made. didn't samara have a gift with fire? burning? those pics the doc had in the file were THERMAL images. and perhaps the cassette was made with samara's gift for creating thermal images?

just watched this movie last night, and did not like it thank God i wasn't alone or else I coudlnt' have watched it. I thought the whole movie was quite distrubing and those images they kept showing ughhhhh. I had to look away. I bet they will make a part 2... because now the lil girl is set free ... They could have gone into a little bit more detail about the girl I thought.
I also heard there's another version of this movie which is a lot scarier ..... I wont be watchin it.. or part 2 if they make one.......

I saw the "Ringu" version but I didn't really like it. It was just kind of flat. It went into a different direction with the story that I didn't really care for. The end was still good though. I thought that the American version was much more suspenseful and believable.

I kind of enjoy the fact that they do not go into a lot of detail with the characters, I think it makes it creepier that way.

Dh and I watched the movie last night. We did think it was scary and creepy, but there were too many holes in the plot. About making the copy of the tape: You have to make a copy and show it to someone else, who will then die after watching it. At the end, Rachel is having Aidan make a copy and he says to her, "What happens to the person who we make watch it?" Rachel doesn't reply and that is the end. Boy I bet Rachel wishes she would've let Noah show it to his girlfriend that day!

about the surviving the tape thing:

I think that if they have someone else watch it, but tell that person that s/he has to make a copy of it in order to live, that should satisfy all parties.

I agree that the movie had too many holes in order to be truly scary. I will watch it again tomorrow, b/c I have questions that I need answered.

As far as where Samarah came from...she was their biological child. They had her birth certificate and it listed the Morgans as her biological parents. But, I wonder why they chose to lie about it. Weird.

We're going to rent Ringu, but I'm wary, b/c of the review here and the fact that I've yet to like a Japanese film.

We'll see!

I watched it 2 weeks ago and it REALLY disturbed me A LOT. I could not sleep that whole night - no kidding. I was tense and scaredfor about 3 days.

I kept thinking that THING (the scene towards the end of the movie) was going to pop up in my own house. How stupid is that!

When I saw the previews, I swore to myself I wouldn't watch it because it looked so dark/creepy. Well then DH brought it home and I said, oh well, why not. What a mistake!

I stayed up that whole night thinking and thinking about the unanswered questions (this thread actually helped answer they WHY did she make more tapes.) I figured the parents made a "deal with the devil" to conceive her - that's why she was so evil.

A positive aspect of watching this film for me... was that it CLEARLY showed me that I have a habit of finding something outside of myself (toxins, cell phones, pesticides, CPS because I don't vax, scarey monsters - now literally - a different thing every 3 weeks or so) that threatens to hurt me... and to cause me INTENSE FEAR and then I OBSESS about it.

After 3 days of my self-torture, I was so mad and fed up at this pattern. But the good news is that recognizing that there is a pattern is the first step towards change.

This is a cool website: http://ringufan.intelligent-light.com/
I looked at it for about 2 hrs yesterday. Dh thought I was insane since I didn't like the movie that much. I mean, it scared the crap out of me and I have been thinking about it alot. I just didn't like the plot holes and sometimes predictable dialogue. I will definately rent Ringu. The above website has awesome FAQs for The Ring and Ringu. It also discusses in detail the Japanese sequels, remakes, and prequels. Very interesting.
