Positive NIP experience!

I just had to share this experience I had last night.

DH wanted us to all go out to Borders for the HP party (yes he is a total Harry fanatic lol) Being that it was Rhi's nursiest time I knew I'd be feeding her there at least once if not more times.

So sure enough we get there and she wants to nurse. I go sit in the little cafe and put her to it. I wasn't paying any attention to anything but her. For some reason I looked up and this woman caught my eye. She gave me this huge smile and a big . I smiled back and said "thank you!" She said good for you! I nursed my son 10 yrs ago. I used to get "those looks" but I would just ignore them.

I got all warm and fuzzy feeling. Since I rarely go out I don't oten NIP and Rhi refuses for me to be covered at all in anyway so I was nervous that I would be flashing ppl, but she just totally made my night and made me realize just how important it is for us mama;s to enourage other mamas we see around NIP-ing.

I've had that experience, too. Never any bad NIP experiences, either.

Darn! I saw a mom at the Indianapolis Children's Museum yesterday nursing a little one and I tried to catch her eye but never could. I wanted to give her thumbs up. My ds was nursing and I just don't walk around nursing him unless I have to since he's a toddler and it's just not as easy as nursing a little one.

I probably should have gone up to her, but I didn't want to scare her by walking up to her with my 27mo attached... but then again maybe she really needed the encouragement. <sigh> I'm beating myself up here.

Three cheers for NIP in Connecticut! I live there, too, and obviously have done most of my NIP there. Never a discouraging word. I have only had semi-negative experiences in Rhode Island and New Jersey.

And people across the country think we're an uptight state. Ha! Thanks for sharing your story, Jennie.

I find CT to be a pretty crunchy state, just wish this area had more health food/organic stores!
There is a coffee shop in RI that is super bf-ing friendly. DH went scoping out little coffee cafe's for us to have a date (with nursling in tow) and wanted to make sure we would only go to a place that was friendly to bf-ers. I wish I could remember the name of it now but I thought it was awesome that 1) he went looking and 2) the owner was very pro bf-ing
