I know this happend with two of her children, and I believe it was the last two, who had a different father than her first. Very crazy stuff. I wasn't sure I believed it, but hearing you say the same thing, I wonder if it is true.

I can't believe your mother went to 42+ weeks with twins!
Well that is good too see someone else has heard of this too.....I guess it still doesn't make it true....I am going to try and research it.

Just because when I had my son I absolutely knew my dates...as did my mother, my dad was a long haul truck driver back then so it was easy for her to know! But when I finally was induced my body almost fought it....took them over eight hours to get contractions to start(they tried the gel first) but the nurses all commented that my body didn't seem to be cooperating. They said at this stage of the pregnancy usually all women need is a bit of encouragement. And because my baby ended up being a boy.
I was unsure if I should iduce or not but knowing my mother went to 44 weeks and still didn't naturally go into labor made me worry abit (mostly because of those horror stories they tell you when you are over!)

Yah my mom couldn't believe she was over with the twins either. She said she thought for sure she was for once going to be early when she found out she was carrying twins! :LOL I guess fate heard her and changed those plans!
And thing is my mom actually worked with a lady who's twins would be about 3.5 years old now that was 43 weeks over due with hers! WILD! My mom was so happy and proud of that girl because she had big twins like my mom (one 6lbs and the other 7lbs). My mom is just the cutest though!

I guess we all have different fears based on our experience...I have a greater fear of being induced before baby is ready and something is wrong.

I was 42w2days with Sophia after having my first 2 the day after the due dates...the midwives were starting to get antsy to induce after 41wks but when I did my research I found that in countries where induction is not done a lot the average pregnancy lasts over 41wks so really I wasn't that far past my due date. My husband is a long haul driver now so I knew exactly when I got pregnant.

Same this time...but who knows...maybe some of us bake babies longer...I am all for watchful waiting when it comes to postdates...I had a biophysical profile at 42 wks and all was ok...I had a non stress test booked for 3 days later but she came before that.

According to the midwives the placenta was still completely fine and she was maybe a few days overdue if any.

I have heard people say "my boys were late but my girls were on time" so I wonder if boys just come later anyway...mmmmmmmmm
