TMI - strange postpartum ailment

I wasn't sure where to post this, so my apologies if this is the wrong forum. TMI alert!

Ever since I had my third baby 8 months ago, I haven't felt the same, ummm, back there. It's not a problem with elimination processes, those have always been fine, no constipation or fear or anything like that. It's afterward that I feel strange. After I have a bowel movement, I feel different and uncomfortable for hours afterward. I know that part of it is due to labor-induced hemorrhoids making their existence known (not painful, just sort of there), but it's more than that.

It feels like my, uh, back door is still open, so to speak. : I notice it especially during exercise, due no doubt, to the bouncing around. I never experienced anything like this with my other pregnancies. I have two questions:

1. Has anyone else experienced this?

2. Does it sound like something that will fix itself in time, or should I ... you know ... have it looked at by a medical professional (if so, who)? : : :

sorry you are experiencing this. I'm wondering if you could be having a bit of rectal prolapse?

I would follow up with a doctor or nurse practitioner in ob/gyn and ask the question there.. I believe it is possible after childbirth to have prolapsed parts ( bladder, uterus, rectum). Kegels would be helpful; I don't know if it would be enough, depending on the degree of prolapse.

good luck; hope that it resolves easily and quickly.

Thank you! After research on google and here on MDC (and learning the term, "rectocele") I am certain that is what it is. I am going to get it checked out to see how severe (or not) it is -- I am hoping I can continue running, since I just invested over $100 replacing my prepregnancy running gear!

Thanks again for taking the time to answer my inquiry. It's good to know it's not 'all in my head'.

I had a similar problem after delivering my son. I also had a uterine prolapse. My midwife said that these things are pretty common- especially since my babies have both been big and I carried my son really low. Kegels have helped tremendously. Also, a dose of time helps many people and I have noticed that just in the last couple months there have been big improvements. In April everything was still pretty out of shape, but now things are closer to normal.
